Who else is going?Not me dammit. I just found out that the stadium changed the date from the 22nd to the 15th, and unfortunately i'll be in Oregon on the 15th. Bummer! I don't think i've ever missed two events in a row . . . . :(

Aww man. I was just talking to an old VW buddy of yours who's now an E30 guy (Kelly, from Arizona -- don't know his last name) and he said he'd be here for the autocross and was hoping to run into you.

Beat you to the post Ben :) I already started one (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=820605). That's where Randy found out about the date change. It does conflict with SCCA practice up at Cal Speedway, but the champ event is on Sunday, so it'll be a busy weekend for me.

Hi jaramill I like Bens thread so I'm posting hear first LOL.

I need to work on my cooling, got too hot waiting in line last time between runs in the hot afternoon, timed runs of course..
All other times its fine.
Anyone use water wetter additive? I might try some.
I'm fabricating a new heat sheild/air box with better sealing and more insulation also.
Also going to remove broken frozen aux fan and ac coils to improve flow.
Should do the trick. fan clutch tested out OK.
But dang its hard to wrench in this freakin heat wave. Hope it cools down.

Any way I swear, the more I post about it the faster my car goes. LOL
or at least I get more motivated to do the work.

It's not going to break. But I do feel a slight shift, almost feels like its in the caliper. Something is definitely loose tho. I'll throw the car up on jackstands and check everything in the front suspension/brakes this weekend. I also need to use some clay bar on the doors since the tape residue from Sears Point and Thunderhill is still there. :rofl

Next I need to remove the frozen aux fan and disconnected AC coils. Gets too hot on pregrid. May try the remove bumper approach instead of radiator route?

I may or may not attend. Not sure yet. If I do it's going to be in the trusty old SE-R!!!! I might be heading up to LA to work a show for ChaseCam, but I'm not sure the hours yet.

No more high engine temps on the grid between runs!
I'm ready now, heat wave or not, bring it on.
I think I'll weigh the parts tonight, should shave a 10th or two off my times too.

Yes, you have to be a club member.

You get 8 practice runs and 3 timed runs.

Our courses are nationally famous for being fun, fast and challenging.

However, 94 of the 100 spots have already been filled online. So the chances of someone getting in the day of are very slim.

First car out though usually is no earlier than 9am. (Sound restrictions at Qualcomm due to surround neighborhood homes).

Well with only 6 spots left, I would say that either you would have to get there at 5:30 or email Dan Tackett and kiss his booty. I have already worked my way into getting two spots (for Tim and I), and doubt that I can get anymore.

As "inkface" mentioned, there is an SCCA practice on Saturday at California Speedway. If you go to the website he mentioned (SCC-Cal Club Solo (http://www.solo2.com)) they have about 11 spots left. You can e-mail the Event master (Art Rinner) and tell him that you'll bring a check and see if he'll reserve a spot for you. Tell him Gio told you. I'm on the board for that region.

The difference between BMWCCA autocrosses and SCCA is that BMW combines the elements of both Sat practice and Sunday champ events of SCCA into 1 day. BMWCCA is more casual, relaxing. SCCA is more hardcore with rules and regulations. Granted you'll get more runs in an SCCA practice but it's tough to get in those practices. Those are first-come first serve by mailing in check and having to be a member of the region.

Sunday's event is only the timed runs (3) but you're not there all day. You either run/work in the morning or run/work in the afternoon based on when your "class" runs. Class meaning what class your car is in. For example an
E36 M3 bone stock with R-Comps is in B-Stock. With street tires (SK1). With more mods B-SP (B-Street Prepared), etc...

I just tossed the R-Comps on the S50 E30 and Quik-Detailed it, and cleaned the windows.

I replaced my sway bar bushing bracket and swapped my track wheels on. I no longer have a shimmy or a "wandering" feeling. I also can't get the clunk to make it's presence known. I guess the car's ready. :dunno

Yesterday was awsome, good practice day. It was good hanging out with everyone, that was the highlight of the day. Next time, I'm going to bring the 2nd Easy-Up so we have more room and shade.
