I just found out that the stadium changed the date from the 22nd to the 15th, and unfortunately i'll be in Oregon on the 15th. Bummer! I don't think i've ever missed two events in a row . . . . :( nickdrivesm3 09-01-2007, 05:57 PM going! Ben Carufel 09-01-2007, 11:00 PM Not me dammit. I just found out that the stadium changed the date from the 22nd to the 15th, and unfortunately i'll be in Oregon on the 15th. Bummer! I don't think i've ever missed two events in a row . . . . :( Aww man. I was just talking to an old VW buddy of yours who's now an E30 guy (Kelly, from Arizona -- don't know his last name) and he said he'd be here for the autocross and was hoping to run into you. jaramill 09-03-2007, 08:21 PM Beat you to the post Ben :) I already started one (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=820605). That's where Randy found out about the date change. It does conflict with SCCA practice up at Cal Speedway, but the champ event is on Sunday, so it'll be a busy weekend for me. Delphin Metalic 09-04-2007, 04:26 PM I'm in.:alright Cant wait to see Ben's new joints.:lol Maybe he'll smoke one again. LOL Hi jaramill I like Bens thread so I'm posting hear first LOL. I need to work on my cooling, got too hot waiting in line last time between runs in the hot afternoon, timed runs of course.. All other times its fine. Anyone use water wetter additive? I might try some. I'm fabricating a new heat sheild/air box with better sealing and more insulation also. Also going to remove broken frozen aux fan and ac coils to improve flow. Should do the trick. fan clutch tested out OK. But dang its hard to wrench in this freakin heat wave. Hope it cools down. Any way I swear, the more I post about it the faster my car goes. LOL or at least I get more motivated to do the work. :buttrock Cheers, Richard F. 94is 09-04-2007, 08:04 PM I have a few things to do to the car before then. I dunno if I'll have time to attend the event. I'm so ridiculously busy with vet school app's that I haven't done any work to the e36 since July. :( nickdrivesm3 09-04-2007, 08:09 PM get yo sheeeeet together woman!!!1!1 Delphin Metalic 09-05-2007, 01:02 PM yeh, Just drive it through the car wash at the Shell station Fri night and your good to go. LOL nickdrivesm3 09-05-2007, 08:38 PM seriously, its not like it cant be fixed if something does break. 94is 09-06-2007, 01:15 AM It's not going to break. But I do feel a slight shift, almost feels like its in the caliper. Something is definitely loose tho. I'll throw the car up on jackstands and check everything in the front suspension/brakes this weekend. I also need to use some clay bar on the doors since the tape residue from Sears Point and Thunderhill is still there. :rofl palomino 09-06-2007, 01:21 AM i requested the wrong day off from work, so i wont be there. :( Tuff Guy 09-06-2007, 02:38 PM down. Ben Carufel 09-06-2007, 03:36 PM My TCKline monoball rear shock mounts just came in this past week...going to install them before the big day :). Delphin Metalic 09-06-2007, 05:07 PM I cant wait to see Ben's new monoballs. heh heh heh I'll show you my new ghetto headlight cold air ram induction turbine booster dampeneing space shuttle tile insulated zero gravity feed reverse osmosis intake overthruster system from Home Depot's advance research aerospace fliud dynamics engineering division of Yoyodyne Inc. LOL I just finished it last night, version 3.0. Actually came out pretty nice, despite all the E30 CAI naysayers. Next I need to remove the frozen aux fan and disconnected AC coils. Gets too hot on pregrid. May try the remove bumper approach instead of radiator route? 325racer 09-06-2007, 09:31 PM I may or may not attend. Not sure yet. If I do it's going to be in the trusty old SE-R!!!! I might be heading up to LA to work a show for ChaseCam, but I'm not sure the hours yet. Delphin Metalic 09-07-2007, 01:02 PM 6PM-10PM last night, pulled aux fan, AC coils, AC hoses. No more high engine temps on the grid between runs! I'm ready now, heat wave or not, bring it on. I think I'll weigh the parts tonight, should shave a 10th or two off my times too. Maybe keep me out of last place. LOL PS Italian GP is this weekend! Go Nick! kellie 09-07-2007, 03:35 PM Why are these always on days when I'm working? Ben Carufel 09-07-2007, 04:27 PM Why are these always on days when I'm working? Hey, for a couple years it seemed like every single autocross was on a date that I was out of town! Could be worse. 94is 09-07-2007, 06:05 PM Why are these always on days when I'm working? Because you suck. Delphin Metalic 09-07-2007, 06:07 PM kelli Bummer, is that the 88 gray 325ix with the loose nut behind the wheel? Is it Delphin Metalic or Silver if thats the one I remember seeing? No fair bringing the WRX though. LOL (jealous) PS Has everybody heard about Ben's new monoballs. Just thought I'd mention it again. nickdrivesm3 09-07-2007, 07:55 PM Because you suck. CAT FIGHT!!!!!!!! nickdrivesm3 09-07-2007, 07:56 PM you two should battle with your e30s kellie 09-07-2007, 09:31 PM kelli Bummer, is that the 88 gray 325ix with the loose nut behind the wheel? Mine is the white '88 325iX with the loose nut behind the wheel. I've never autocrossed it, but I think I will...someday. Maybe next time. I've seen AND touched Ben's new monoballs, for the record. Kimberblobby, wanna run 'em? 94is 09-07-2007, 11:51 PM Kimberblobby, wanna run 'em? Ok, but no offroading tho. :rofl Delphin Metalic 09-09-2007, 08:53 PM whew... I Just stripped 50 lbs of sound deadining tar out of my trunk. I should have done it sooner. Maybe do the cabin later this week. Right now my hands are worn out. Almost ready to take on kellie's E30 325 ix Ben Carufel 09-10-2007, 12:33 AM LOL! You finally did the trunk tar delete eh? Good job! Don Nguyen 09-10-2007, 12:52 AM If I am lucky, I will be able to make it out to this one. My car pulls extremely hard to the right when braking, and unsettles the car quite a bit. Ben Carufel 09-10-2007, 01:40 AM You'll want to get that checked out.... kellie 09-10-2007, 01:53 AM Coughcough. ^ Delphin Metallic, the iX is a speed machine!! inkface 09-10-2007, 07:48 PM how are the bmw autox events in san d do u have to be a bmw club member? do u get lots of runs is the track big and fast?? deciding on this or the socal event 94is 09-10-2007, 07:54 PM how are the bmw autox events in san d do u have to be a bmw club member? do u get lots of runs is the track big and fast?? deciding on this or the socal event Yes, you have to be a club member. You get 8 practice runs and 3 timed runs. Our courses are nationally famous for being fun, fast and challenging. However, 94 of the 100 spots have already been filled online. So the chances of someone getting in the day of are very slim. valley325m 09-11-2007, 06:59 PM at what time does this start? i wanna go see..:) Tuff Guy 09-11-2007, 07:45 PM early in the morning, what like 7 or 8 usually? jaramill 09-11-2007, 07:46 PM First car out though usually is no earlier than 9am. Tim and I are supposed to go out to dinner for our anniversary at some point. But we haven't made any plans yet. :az Kim. Laguna Seca is pretty much a GO. Kim, would there still be room for unregistered people? TC535i 09-13-2007, 06:21 PM oh man I forgot about that online registration thing. Kim, would there still be room for unregistered people? By my math, that looks like 6 openings for walk-ons, but I only have a bachelors in economics from UCLA and work as a tax accountant, I'm not so good with numbers. ;) 94is 09-13-2007, 06:32 PM oh man I forgot about that online registration thing. Kim, would there still be room for unregistered people? Well with only 6 spots left, I would say that either you would have to get there at 5:30 or email Dan Tackett and kiss his booty. I have already worked my way into getting two spots (for Tim and I), and doubt that I can get anymore. TehPandaShow 09-13-2007, 06:39 PM I wanted to go. fcuk. :( SilverBeam 09-13-2007, 06:40 PM Well with only 6 spots left, I would say that either you would have to get there at 5:30 or email Dan Tackett and kiss his booty. If you're interested in helping out then please email (bmwwebb@earthlink.net) the club president Mike Webb. The meeting will be at 10am on Sunday at Hollywood Park. E-mail him to confirm. Gio jaramill 09-13-2007, 06:55 PM there is a meeting sunday i might go to for the bmw car club of los angeles which is looking to hold some next year go to http://www.solo2.com/ for this weekend @ cali speedway its probably too late .. im going to send a check to that address and hope to get in the practice sesh on saturday you should show up anyway As "inkface" mentioned, there is an SCCA practice on Saturday at California Speedway. If you go to the website he mentioned (SCC-Cal Club Solo (http://www.solo2.com)) they have about 11 spots left. You can e-mail the Event master (Art Rinner) and tell him that you'll bring a check and see if he'll reserve a spot for you. Tell him Gio told you. I'm on the board for that region. The difference between BMWCCA autocrosses and SCCA is that BMW combines the elements of both Sat practice and Sunday champ events of SCCA into 1 day. BMWCCA is more casual, relaxing. SCCA is more hardcore with rules and regulations. Granted you'll get more runs in an SCCA practice but it's tough to get in those practices. Those are first-come first serve by mailing in check and having to be a member of the region. Sunday's event is only the timed runs (3) but you're not there all day. You either run/work in the morning or run/work in the afternoon based on when your "class" runs. Class meaning what class your car is in. For example an E36 M3 bone stock with R-Comps is in B-Stock. With street tires (SK1). With more mods B-SP (B-Street Prepared), etc...
