The night autocross is coming!!! It is Saturday September 8th at Mineral Wells...!!!!

Schedule
All times are approximate.....a rough guideline.. Our intent is to have drivers do ** at least** 5 runs in
the daylight session so that they can familiarize themselves with the course... With 20 drivers and
a course time of about 50-60 seconds.. I expect each session to feel a lot like our fun run sessions?
Ideally.. drivers should also be able to get **at least** 5 runs at night.

4:00 AUTOCROSS COMMITTEE arrival/setup
4:30 tech inspection opens
5:00 driver's meeting
5:15 first car off - group 1 - 45 mins
6:15 first car off- group 2 - 45 mins
7:00 DINNER BREAK
Sunset should be around 7:45 or so according to our friends at the weather channel.
The dinner break is a chance to enjoy the Texas summer sunset, grill, cook out, and socialize
in a away that we just don't normally do at most autocross events since everyone will be taking a
break at the same time! The club will provide VITTLES...- brats, warm German potato salad, sauerkraut, chips.
Attendees are are welcome to chip in or bring additional items that can be cooked on the grill!

8:30 PM first car off - group 1 -55 mins
9:30 PM first car off -group 2 -55 mins
10:30 PM UNTIL ???

Last year.. most drivers had the best results by driving with headlights OFF and parking lights
and foglights ON... E36s and E46s do this well..

ACCOMODATIONS...
Last year... several people camped out overnight right on the lot at Mineral Wells
.. This should be ok again as well for this year the weather should be NICE!

For those of us a little less hardy.. I've contacted the BEST WESTERN MINERAL WELLS...
Rooms can be had for $79 per night for double occupancy, two queen beds....
When you call, tell them you are with the BMW Car club.. ph 940-325-2270
Our reservation is under the name Mark Yujuico - ask for the same rate.

You guys should really consider coming out to some of the LSCBMWCCA events. 8 runs (sometimes fun runs) and fun, fast and long courses. You can't go wrong. M3 Adjuster puts on some great events!

Here's a video of the course on Sunday:

Yep, the Miata will be for sale at the end of the month. I'm running a B-stock RX-8 now. It's been good, 3 1st place trophies and 1 2nd place out of the four events I've been to now. Plus there's great competition in the class. Pretty much everybody but me is going to Nationals this year.

Bauer and the other crazy NC guys scared me out of CSP.

I want to go out to some events but I dont feel comfortable with my stock suspension. I may be ready for the next season.

Thomas, you dominated with the Miata, so now its time to dominate with the RX-8 huh? :D

Thomas-

BS, huh? You probably had to because the Pontiac Solstice killed the Miata last year at Nats.

I may AX a few times next year but it will be in XP b/c that and FP are the only classes my car will qualify for now (except G in local BMW CCA). It finally seems to be running again. We will see this weekend at MSR.

Come on out Joe, there's nothing wrong with the stock suspension. The event in October is going to be at the TMS bus lot so it'll be easy on tires.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm really happy in the RX-8 b/c the competition is so good. It keeps me on my toes.

L8TR,

The solstice looked to be a B-stock class killer last year, but the '99 sport Miata fought back and won quite a few National Tours this year. There's no telling who's going to win at Nationals.

I'm just worried about this car/driver:

Yeah, I would be too!

I just haven't had any desire to AX for a while. All day in the heat and/or rain for a couple of minutes of seat time in a parking lot. Not much appeal there. My car is about 1/2 way ready for BMW CCA Club Racing in IP so that is where I will be most of the time with the occasional AX. I won't do Nationals again unless I co-drive someone else's car b/c my car will not be competitive in any SCCA Class b/c of the limitations of the BMW CCA IPrepared class. :(
