Question:

I'm selling my M5 here in the near future, and I wonder how do I go about keeping the perosonalized plate that's on it? The plate has no value to anyone who might buy the car (it's just a family name), but I would like to transfer it over to my S50 E30...

Anyone done this before?

TIA.

from dmv...
What do I do with the license plate?
Most vehicles have sequentially issued "standard" license plates that remain with the vehicle when ownership is transferred. If the license plate is a special interest or personalized license plate, you must decide if you want to retain the plate for use on another vehicle, or release your interest in the plate. Complete a Special Interest License Plate Application (REG 17) or a Special License Plate Application (REG 17A) indicating your retention or release of the special plate and give the form to the buyer.

Awesome, thanks. Don't know how I didn't spot that.

when I was at the DMV picking up my new plates, she said if I ever sold the car, to make sure I kept the plate since I "owned" them. If you dont transfer to another car, you pay a $30 annual fee to keep it "yours"
