ok, i'm pretty sure i want to do this. this car is my daily driver, but i want another jeep wrangler bad. what i have is a 1996 jetta trek with a VR6 conversion. the guy i bought it from had it all professionally done in NY. i have all the paperwork that he gave me when i bought the car. i had to switch the gauge cluster since the old one started to have problems. it has just about 100k on the clock (i can figure out the correct mileage. i have the original mileage at work). the new cluster reads 149+k. donor car was a 98 gti. the things that i did to the car since i bought was install leather seats, FK coilovers, install exhaust (cant remember brand), DE wheels painted black (could use repaint), 5 lug conversion, a/c blows cold, swap to gti front end, install 6000k HID's, install clear long fogs w/ silverstar bulbs, install Euroswitch, GIAC chip, install clear sidemarkers, install badgeless grille, neuspeed 8mm wires, new coilpack, installed new NGK plugs, installed DE (red stitch) steering wheel, shift knob & boot, and parking brake boot, BFI green motor & trans mounts, and install neuspeed short shifter assembly.

maintenance was just done...this car is in great mechanical shape. that's why im leary on getting rid of it. just had the timing chains done less than 4000 miles ago. my tech said that the motor was put together well. everything works and the car drives great...as i said it's my daily driver. tires still have good tread and the brakes pads have planty of life in them (front and rear). im the service manager at a repair shop, so i have always kept up on everything. just had the coolant flushed, fuel system service, and everything else checked out, so i know everything is good. other things i replaced when i got the car...both O2 sensors, MAF, and had to get a 5 lug spare (something i didnt think about when i bought it....still had the 4 lug spare). as i said before, im not really sure if i want to get rid of it, but i really want another jeep wrangler bad. for the right price i may even keep the custom installed valentine one in there, lol.

there is some small surface rust on the l/r wheel well arch and a small spot under the driver's door. i did have to change the driver's door (that's why there is no pinstripe on that door) the old door had a broken hinge do wouldnt close correctly). it was cheaper to get a door from the local yard then to try and have it welded back. this way i knew the weld couldnt break and the door would always work correctly.

only bad thing about the car right now is this:
-as with any other MkIII, the plastic around the steering column is cracked and would need replacement.
-the other stuff has now been taken care of. i just got all the parts needed at a local yard, and installed them today (8/29)
so really the only thing that you will need for the interior to be perfect is the steering column plastic, but i will be putting the plastic together on there and fabricating something to hold it up. that way you dont see the wires in the column.

best thing about this car is that it's a 4 cylinder when you go to get it insured.

asking $4000obo.....like i said i dont really have to sell since it's my daily driver. but wouldnt mind trading for a 6 cylinder wrangler in good shape. if someone wanted the custom installed valentine one in there, we can discuss a little more. found a couple jeeps that i like,so i would like to get this sold fast.

email me with any questions. or for more pics. i can send all the pics i have.
