Does anyone offer a PnP kit for HID fogs? If not, where can I find a DIY? I am interested in some 3000k hid fogs.

I am interested in some 3000k hid fogs. there's no pnp fog kit per se but its not real hard to do either, all you you have to do is eliminate the stock plug and put in our adapter harness in its place, then drill a hole in the back cover to run the wires through and you are done. the bulb fit in the fogs without any sort of modification, its a fairly simple and straight forward install. pm me if you need help or have any questions. mookish 08-30-2007, 04:16 PM Yeah, so long as you have the correct bulb type, it's the same as adding HID's to your lows. On the e39 I had to remove the reflector and just drill a small hole to pass the wires through. All in all P&P. Can be done in less than 30 minutes. kpipalldaway2 08-30-2007, 05:02 PM like habbie said cut of the fog connectors, and put on 9006 connectors! u dont even really have to drill a whole just tap the back femal part of the connector with a hammer and it will break loose! brandon5069 08-30-2007, 05:25 PM Mookish, do you have any pics of the install? What do you mean by remove the reflector. Is the bulb too long? I have a prolumen kit that I'll be installing in my fogs soon..... Just installed a 55w kit in my lows :buttrock The-Great-328ic 08-31-2007, 01:00 AM I didn't have to cut my wires, but I kind of forgot how to do it, if I had an hid kit for my fogs I would do a DIY to do this without cutting the wires :D hehe banshee740 08-31-2007, 09:28 AM pics please Rooz 08-31-2007, 11:49 AM HID fogs = pure sex :D mookish 09-01-2007, 10:26 AM Mookish, do you have any pics of the install? What do you mean by remove the reflector. Is the bulb too long? I have a prolumen kit that I'll be installing in my fogs soon..... Just installed a 55w kit in my lows :buttrockI don't have any pics but its really easy. If you did the lows, the fogs will be no problem. The HID bulb is too long for the stock fogs, it will hit the metal reflector. So I just removed the reflector. It pops right out, no damage and can be put back in if you ever wanted to revert to stock. Once the reflector is out, you're back to a standard install. You'll need to drill a small access hole in each fog to run the wires through. I mounted my ballasts in my engine bay and just ran the wires down. I had extensions so they can reach. Mounting ballats on the bumper is a b**ch. The look great and puy out a lot of additional light, especially to either side of the car. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showpost.php?p=10498720&postcount=6 NYY42 12-29-2007, 10:28 PM *bump* What temp should I get in my fogs? looking for the best visibility..already have the "bling" in my lowbeams http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/786/img0866sd0.jpg BMWALDO 12-29-2007, 10:49 PM *bump* What temp should I get in my fogs? looking for the best visibility..already have the "bling" in my lowbeams http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/786/img0866sd0.jpg "Best" visibility to actually produce the most lumens would be a bulb between 4000k- 5000k. habbie 12-30-2007, 01:18 AM "Best" visibility to actually produce the most lumens would be a bulb between 4000k- 5000k. true, but visability and e36 fogs do not belong in the same sentence...;) BMWALDO 12-30-2007, 02:02 AM true, but visability and e36 fogs do not belong in the same sentence...;) I sometimes run around with just the HID fogs. Are those 8000K or is it just the picture? I have 8000K and they aren't that blue, but I'm still way under the 10 hour break-in period. They've become significantly more blue in the past two days, though -- and I love how they look. I'll get around to taking pictures tomorrow. I've been in lazy mode all month since I'll be back on campus in two weeks :P NYY42 12-30-2007, 03:05 AM Good lord. Are those 8000K or is it just the picture? I am torn between 3000k and 5000k for the fogs. bew 12-30-2007, 03:08 AM Wow, I guess how I know mine will look when they are broken in. I too am using the 8000K Apexcone race setup. I still have some adjusting to do, but they are pretty close when I installed them, so I've been too lazy to find a wall and start on it. BMWALDO 12-30-2007, 03:46 AM 8000k apexcone race. I am torn between 3000k and 5000k for the fogs. 3000 would look "odd" with your blue lowbeams. Go 5000k so they are white. Wouldn't clash soo much. BayAreaE36 12-30-2007, 10:15 PM I have 5K fogs MY92BIMMERSROCK 12-30-2007, 10:35 PM not to jump thread i have 8000k in my low beams and they are bluer than NYY42 and i got stopped because they were to blue but if i talk to any other P.O they say there ok also i got a 5 day tro fix them WI sucks BoNeZ325is 12-30-2007, 10:44 PM got 6k on my fogs and there perfect IMO.. thinkin bout gettin another 6k for my low beams Bluz 12-31-2007, 08:18 PM 8000k apexcone race. I am torn between 3000k and 5000k for the fogs. Very nice... it's 35W? In Brazil I just found a 35W HID Kits to buy... no 50 or 55W until now... :( Here, the useful HID kits are 6K / 35W (High, low and fogs light too).. We have a 8~12K 35W Kits too, but it's means problems with police... bew 01-01-2008, 02:02 AM www.understeer.com sells the Apexcone 55W race kits, just be sure to select the Race option so you get the 55w and not 35w. I am using the 55w race 8000k Apexcones, too, but I still haven't been driving much at night so they are not at their full color/intensity yet. If I run in to problems with them being "too blue", I'll move down to the 6000k kits. I hope I don't, though, as I love how they look so far. |
