1990 BMW 325i
143k Miles
Black/Tan
I purchased this car in March of this year as my daily driver. The car was bone stock when I bought it. Car was purchased in VA, sold to an elderly man in MD, and when he died the car was donated. After the donation it was left without registration for a little over a year before I bought it from a dealer in MD. Car has a clean, lien-free title.
Exterior - Paint is in decent shape, but far from perfect. It appears to be original, so there are several small dents, scratches, and other ailments. Overall, for a 17 year old car, the paint is in very good condition. The car will receive a full detail before being sold/delivered, most likely this weekend. The only rust on the car was discovered this past weekend when I was installing the 3.73LSD. Its located on the underside of the rear valence, where you can’t see it unless your under the car. There is no rust anywhere else on the car. Manual sunroof operates as it should with no hiccups. Mirrors function perfectly. Front glass is slightly pitted from age, but overall is very clean with no cracks. All other glass is very clean.
Interior - Originally the car came with a grey cloth non-sport interior. Shortly after driving the car without any seat support, I opted to upgrade to a sport interior. I fell upon a full euro M-Technic interior locally and snatched it up. Swap consisted of front seats, rear seat with headrests and ski hole (factory), carpet, and door cards. The passenger seat is in good condition, with no rips or tears. The rear seat is also in very good condition and looks very original. All seats have M-Technic badges factory installed. The drivers seat is in between good and fair shape. The seat has two small holes/tears on the outer bolster that have grown since I have been driving the car daily. They are now about the size of a quarter. Carpet has a few small stains. I have attempted to remove them all, so really all that is left are the bad stains. Overall the carpet is very clean though. Dash has no cracks that I can find, and is in very good condition. All lower kick panels are present and the glove box works flawlessly.
Engine/Transmission - Engine runs flawlessly with no hiccups. Probably one of, if not the best running M20’s I have ever felt. Many parts have been replaced. Dry compression results yielded 165, 167, 163, 170, 168, 163. Current gas mileage with a mix of city and highway is roughly 24mpg. Burns no oil, nor any coolant. Oil has been maintained with 3000 mile intervals using 20W50, with the last one taking place last well. Transmission shifts excellently, with no grinds or hesitation. Transmission fluid has been replaced with Redline MT90, differential has Redline 75W90. Throwout bearing just failed and a new clutch is being installed this week. Guibo and center support bushings will be replaced as well.
Suspension - When I purchased the car, the entire suspension was blown. Not just worn, but blown. Thus this was one of the first things I addressed. I prefer very responsive, mostly stiff cars. I also like compliance so I spend a lot of time working my suspensions. I purchased an entire H&R Gruppe G suspension from an 88 M3 race car that a local shop was building. Springs are roughly 900lbs/in front, and 1100lbs/in rear progressive. Shocks are revalved to match the springs. Setup is very similar to Turner Motorsports J-Stock. Currently the car sits on all spring pads, and could be dropped nearly another ½” without the pads. Front control arm bushings were replaced with AKG offset 75D Polyurethane. Rear shock mounts were replaced with Turner Motorsport units. Outer tie-rods were replaced when the suspension was done. Car will have a current alignment when new tires are installed. Subframe bushings are factory, but in very good condition.

Problems - No car is problem less, and my car is no exception. While I have taken strives to fix everything possible, time and money limit what is possible. I chose to go the no exceptions route when updating my car, so I could not get to certain things. The windshield washer reservoir has a crack in the bottom, so the fluid leaks out. The result is the washer fluid light on the check panel is ever present. The brake pad sensors were removed sometime by the previous owner, so the brake lining light stays on. The brake pads are in very good shape, as well as the rotors, but the light is always on. The gauge cluster was replaced by the PO with a Motometer E unit, so the tachometer ends at 5k and the gas guage is off. The unit was installed by the dealership, and was updated to the mileage, so the mileage is correct. I was hesitant to replace the cluster as I didn’t want the mileage to be off. Just this week though when I was resetting the odometer to keep up with how much gas I had, I stripped out the gear so it isn’t operable now. I am trying to resolve this situation as quickly as possible. There is rust on the lower inside of the rear valence. The paint is not perfect, but is okay. I do not have a spare tire, and the tool kit is not complete. There is no lip spoiler.
What is included in the sale? - For my asking price, I am including what all is listed, plus several uninstalled parts. I have a freshly painted 535is (MTec1) spoiler, Nakamichi 8” subwoofers, and anything else in my closet. I will also include tubs and tubs of parts from 318is’s, 325i’s, amongst more. Probably $1500 worth of spare parts. The original 3.73 open differential will be included and any of the factory parts I have left. Basically I am trying to clean house, so anything BMW related is yours.
Price - Asking $5500 or best offer. A quick look on www.autotrader.com and www.cars.com shows that there are no 325is’s, and only two 318is’s in the country within my asking price. I have nearly $8k in my car as it sits right now, so I am taking a loss selling it. I am also including the rest of the parts to make the ACS SSK complete if you would like to sell it for an E46. Retail on the parts alone is $1200.
PM is the best form of contact.
