If anyone has a cheap 3 series or 5 series for sale, any year is fine as long as it runs good and will get through winter im interested. Looking for a 325e mainly since there really cheap on gas, but anything from $500 - $2500 im interested.

Nice e21, too nice for a winter beater, IMO. You need an e30 or e28, I'd think. I seem to remember a 528e for sale in the Edmonton area a little while ago.

By the way, are prices there as inflated as the prices for everything else? looking at some of the asking prices for Bimmers out there makes me cringe.

Anything that came from the factory with a ///M is inflated. Some of the other stuff is priced about right for what you get.

Paid a bit too much for the M-Sport?

I found the prices for things like an e32 astounding. I paid $3k for mine, and saw 735is in Edmonton for $6k-$11k two years ago. It wouldn't surprise me if the ///M cars were over priced.

But an ///M isn't a daily driver or a winter beater anyway.

Heh there are a lot of people here who think that a BMW is worth tons more $$ just because of the roundel. I paid 15k for mine, but it also only had 100k on it, and everything was in astoundingly good shape. It took me 6 months of looking and waiting to find it though.

Do you think my friend's BMW is overpriced? I thought $2k wasn't so bad for the shape it's in.

It's a little on the steep side but someone looking specifically for that type of car would pay that price. That's the thing with the classic BMWs like that, is people want to have it because of what it is, not as just a car, you know?

I think that it's a good price, especially if it is rust free and well maintained. I don't think it's a car that deserves to be a winter beater though. Look at the prices of 2002s these days. Another few years and the e21s will be up there (though not as high as the '02s, which have a special place in the hearts of old school bimmerphiles.)

Is this still available? Link took me to a list of cars none of which seemed like this one. My daughter is looking and this is in her $$$$$ range.

That's #4.
