View Full Version : Day time running lights
refplusten 08-27-2007, 06:18 PM Anyone know how or where I can get my DRLs turned off in the Edmonton area? or maybe Toronto area (I'll be down there next week)
I called the dealership (Edmonton - Bavaria) and they refused to do it saying it was illegal... which i guess it is, but so is speeding and painting wooden ladders in New Brunswick ;)
:lol
You'll have to go S of the border, I guess.
alejandro 08-28-2007, 12:16 PM I know i guy that can do it for you i will ask. :buttrock
I'm interested too! PM with details if you can hook it up.
foosified 08-28-2007, 02:46 PM interested as to why you would want to do this??
refplusten 08-28-2007, 03:10 PM Well I don't like the look of the DRLs... it's the yellowish tint to them. The angel eyes and the fog lights on my car are the same colour as my HID headlights. So it looks very slick with just the angel eyes and fog lights on especially cruising the city at night. There is enough light in the city that seeing isn't a problem and if i need to I can always turn on my HIDs.
refplusten 08-28-2007, 03:12 PM Oh and thanks "alejandro" I'm looking forward to hearing from you!

Driving with just fogs and "angel-eyes" at night is kind of asking for a citation.
The e92 (new 3 series coupe), only uses the angel eyes for DRL's. Unfortunately, my e90 DRL's look crappy to me.
At night I'd still have my adaptive HID and angel eyes.
To each their own.
Schnell325 08-29-2007, 01:25 AM I chose to delete the DRLs on my Subaru for highway driving.....no need to have "people" in the other double lane see me coming any sooner than necessary. But yes, to each their own. I forgo the safety aspect for the above reason.

I'd rather have the idiots see me. I often drive my older cars (lacking DRLs) with the lights on in daylight while on the highway, just for that reason.
Schnell325 08-30-2007, 02:21 AM I meant the police, but I totally understand where you are coming from.
refplusten 08-30-2007, 10:40 AM hey alejandro!
Any luck contacting your guy?
Icabob 08-30-2007, 02:00 PM Why don't you just change your bulbs to a different color??I have yellow bulbs in my M3 and they look great.Just a suggestion??
refplusten 08-30-2007, 03:18 PM Well that was my original idea. So i spent the money on bulbs that were colour matched to my HIDs. However, the DRL run at a low power setting so they still look yellow (but i doubt the colour match anyway because the high beam looks white and not like my HIDs).
Where did you get your coloured bulbs Icabob?
97'scort 08-30-2007, 05:51 PM Got mine from habbie (umnitza). Predator Xenix. Work pretty well and he knows how to get around the customs guys :D
refplusten 08-31-2007, 01:59 AM got any pics of your lights in action?

They were installed already when I picked up my M3 last month,so I dont know where they came from, all I know is that when one burns out I hope I can find a place that sells them...lol.
97'scort 08-31-2007, 03:13 PM None yet :) One of my ballasts gave out it looks like, so I'm running on one eye for the time being. Pictures will be up when I get them working again!
alejandro 09-01-2007, 08:45 PM Hi sorry for the delay, i called him and he said when they did it it was done by the dealer on the south side. :(
