So I have searched the archives.. This does not seem to come up.

Someone has compared the Q to the QSD before, saying they are basicly the better of the mb line, over psd etc. But the qsd has better midrange.

Now is the qm215.61Q the q series?

I am looking for something for the front on my 96 328is.

Thinking of going with these. Looks like they are about $300 on ebay. New, no warranty from the factory I am sure.

I will be using a alpine mrv f357 5chan bridged into 80x2 +1x150 for this, and a polk db10 sub in the trunk.

(As for the sub and amp, left over from old car install, only reason I am using it for now)

the qsd basically has a stiffer cone and so can get to a higher frequency before rollof...the qm215.61Q is the Q set, yes...u can know for sure because the tweeters are different from the lower line and the speaker has a Q in the middle of the dustcap...these are GREAT speakers, u wont be disapointed in my opinion....if u are get someone else to tune the car...seriously....

Kevin trying to advise a friend on seperates. He is looking at MB's, Boston Pro's and ADS. We really want to do a three-way system but I can't find a three-way system with 5.25 inch woofer like the stock BMW set. I was thinking of getting two sets and running an active crossover. What do you think?

Do a little snipping! ;-]

I do know that MB Quart had a 5 1/4" 3-Way system meant specifically for the BMW application but I am not sure if they produce it any longer.

You might consider buying individual drivers from a company like JL and using the active X-Over from the 3-Way set...

Nate has a point...lemme ask this....are u dead set on going 3 way? if so, are u against a little snipping as Nate suggested...also, if u look around the 3 way for the e36 comes up for sale on the used market every so often...that may be the way to go....if u go with MOST 5.25" mids and the 4" mid from the same model category (pros, qsd's, etc...) the sound will not blend very well...first lets find out what supporting equipment your gonna use, what your trying to accomplish, and how far your willing to go(cutting kicks, doors, etc..) then i can offer more meaningful suggestions....if your not dead set on going 3 way then a nice set of focals or quart (q's or qsd's) and i think you will have a very nice system...the a/d/s/ is very good as well but not for everyone....its close to dyns but a warmer sound to them...not as neutral as esotar or system 340 but close... many people think the midrange is better with a 2 way a/d/s/ setup than a 2 way dyn setup of the same caliber(top of the line a/d/s/ to non esotar dyn 2 way basically) when mounted OFF AXIS like in the kicks of the BMW e36 for example :)
