I am getting ready to attempt to reapir a blown head gasket on my 96 328i.

I have a very good DIY write up from this forum, the Pelican Parts manual and the Bentley manual.

I need to line up all the tools needed and am writing to see if anyone currently on the Carolinas forum has these tools for rent or sell or loan :). I live in Kernersville, NC right in between Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and High Point. If so, could you let me know as soon as possible. If not where is the cheapest cource for these tools?

If someone local with experience replacing the head gasket could help me out that would be great also.

I must admit I have not yet thouroughly read the articles in detail. Do I need any of the tools to get the head off and to the machine shop? I would like to know the condition of the head before I go and rent the tools I may not need. If the head is cracked I may opt to put a used motor in it instead of repairing.

Please let me know where I can get these tools.
