Time to either have the trans rebuilt or have a used trans installed. What year is your 528i?

Our transmissions are sealed. The fluid can't be checked without dropping the oil pan....

You might have caused an electrical problem of some sort, the transmission uses a lot of different sensors in the car and if it does not receive the proper signal then it can't run right. Make sure nothing is disconnected around where you did the work.

wrong, the the transmission must be at operating temperature, remove the fill plug on the tranny, and if the fluid starts pouring out, then it is full.

Theres info on checking the trans and where the diffrent fill plugs are located on BMWtips.com Also depending on your year you need diffrent trans fluids.
