I just installed the 7894 into my M. It looks great, but at night, the orande illuminated buttons are really bright. I connecting the dimming switch lead to the deck and it dims the graphic display, but not the buttons. Did I hook something up wrong or do the buttons not dim?

No, only the display dims...
