View Full Version : Slightly modded srt-4 vs S52 M Coupe
m3chaser 08-24-2007, 06:58 AM I actually followed him to see if he wanted to race. I had a passenger of 155lbs and he had his gf in his car so there were no advantages on either side save his mods. He said he has intake and exhaust which is more then I can say for myself. All I have is an intake so I figured I would get beat but wanted to run anyways.
The first run we went from 40mph role and I was in 2nd. I honked three times and jumped out about a CL on him and held that until 90mph and shut it down.
The second run was from a 55mph role and I was in 3rd( way out of my power band!) and he walked me by a good 3 car lengths. He kept right on going but I was happy that I split the 2 races with him. To my surprise the fella could shift quickly.
I imagine if i had 2 mods that would be comparable to his it would be the M50 manifold and 3.73lsd. I don't think he would have a chance if I had those mods in either race that we raced.
All in all it was a fun couple of runs and he was a cool SRT-4 owner.
tsweers89 08-24-2007, 07:56 AM well at least you beat him once. Im not a fan at all of srt4's. Im more of a evo/dsm lover well after bimmers that is
m3chaser 08-24-2007, 08:03 AM I really appreciate the SRT-4 for what it is. It is very fast and very affordable to boot. Simple mods give good gains and you actually get what you pay for when you mod it. I like the looks as well. It has a simple and clean body kit as well.
I probably wouldn't drive one as a DD, but still a great car.
l3it3r 08-24-2007, 09:34 PM as a DD, this car sucks. I've put over 61k miles into it, and all the pains of driving a modded car that far are multiplying! I'm just happy that it IS fast.. there is SOME pay off!! haha.

i cant say the same about my M thankfully.
l3it3r 08-24-2007, 09:46 PM haha, no doubt. I've been actively looking for replacement cars for this. E46 M3s, E39 M5s, the 2003-2004 E500 and 2002-2004 S430/500 are currently at the top of the 'luxury' cars that I'm looking at. I had my search distracted recently by a handful of 2005 Chrysler Crossfire SRT6 coupes however! Those cars handle AWESOMELY (and are esentially SLK 32 AMGs anyway) and can be had for anywhere from $17k-24k with VERY low mileage.
anyway. nice run! Was looking at a Mcoupe recently.. would love to have one, but my wife said she wouldn't be caught dead in the 'ambiguously gay duo car' as she calls it :( I think they're f-in stellar looking!!
TheM3nsah 08-24-2007, 10:14 PM no offense but ur wife has bad taste lol
l3it3r 08-25-2007, 12:06 AM No, none taken. She really does.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA @ the ambiguously gay duo!
I think that am pretty sure that with an M50 mani and 3.73lsd the second race would have been very different. because I would have been in my power band at that speed or at least closer to it.

Yeah but what if the neon upped the boost a little? :D
J/k. I would honestly trade my srt-4 for a Mcoupe anyday of the week.
Team BM 08-25-2007, 12:10 PM she doesnt like the mcoupe but you drive around a neon

His car was faster then mine top end for sure. It was evident that he was gonna pull on me the faster we got going, so I figured with the mods he had done to his car that comparable mods would be the M50 and 3.73lsd.
Now if the SRT turned the boost up then it is bye bye to my M Coupe in a straight line.
How much do the SRT-4's weigh in at? Don't they put down more power then the S52 in stock form?

Duh, Neons are girls cars. Everyone knows that.:rolleyes

Srt-4s weight around 2900lbs. They make about 230-235 to the wheels. They have roughly 260hp to the crank.
The exhaust is pretty restrictive considering its only 2.25''. Even with a 2.5 catback that I put on, gains can easily be seen. Its great how much bang for the buck you can get out of these cars, but spend more than 1k in mods and you have an undriveable street car.

Then I did pretty darn well against him! He weighs less then me is most likely putting down to the ground what I have to the crank:eek:.
