I recently installed a
4ch. 500w amp to power 5.25 component fosgates and 5.25 fosgates and a
2ch 300w to power a 12" sub. I made a mistake and had the audio work done partially by my friend and the other part from bestbuy. well needless to say, my electrical system is kinda going crazy right now.

there are 2 different scenarios.
in one of the scenarios, when i turn on my lights, all my idiot check lights come on (most notably the airbag light) and then they turn off. If this happens, then everything works perfectly.

when i turn on the car and the idiot lights except the airbag light come on, my whole system is messed up. my dome light fades on and off, my horn doesnt work. my stock head unit doest get power. my amps in the back dont get power, and the steering wheel moves up and down.

I am looking for someone in southern california, hopefully around the Orange County area that can take a look at my system, and help fix it. Payment will be discussed.

drop me an email please.

I don't know too much about the E39 system. Some of it is fiber optic. I believe there are interactions between the factory deck and some other systems. You may have to keep the factory deck wired in.

We had one scheduled for an install recently, but the owner changed his mind. In similar situations, we have had to relocated the factory deck up under the dash somewhere so that the associated systems would continue to work.

This is an install that really requires someone with experience with hi-end autos and the interactions in their sophisticated systems.

As you already know, BestBuy and DIY may not be the way to go.

Best of luck with it. Jay

La Jolla Audio used my stock headunit in the 540i/6, matched and adapted line adapters into an Extant 5 channel out to DiamondAudio crossovers and speakers throughout and finally out to a Alumapro sub in the skipass with a custom wall to reinforce it..

They know what they are doing, and they're good, but not cheap.

Joe, Check out Automotive Entertainment in Pasadena. There are a few of them but they do the best work. It's a bit far from you but they know how to work around or with the E39 headunit. They work of bimmers all the time.
Take the 57 to 210 and exit Rosemead. Go South and they're next to the furniture store on the right. 626-577-1200. Mike is the owner. Good luck.

Thanks for all the help guys. Im gonna contact some of the places. Does anyone know anyone really good with this sort of thing, not necessarily a place, but maybe an experienced person?

Thanks again,
Joe

My initial small project with Automotive Entertainment in Pasadena went well -- and they've been tolerant of all my questions.

I'm about to go back to them for a Alpine head unit and alarm install on my M Roadster.
