I am currently shopping around for a set of winter wheels and I am entertaining the idea of getting a set to run as winter wheels, then mount R comps for auto-x / track use in the summer. How would Kosei K1s hold up in the winter? Is there anything better out there for a track wheel? I'd like to keep the price under $250/ wheel and prefer 8.5". Open to suggestions - thanks.

for a rear wheel drive car, get Blizzaks. They are going to cost you some money, but thats the best you can buy

Yes, I realize that - I'm planning on getting LM-25 Blizzaks. I'm asking about wheels, however. I'm curious if for some reason it would be a bad idea to run a lightweight wheel in the winter or if there exists a better track wheel that would be suitable to run in the winter as well. Sorry for being unclear.

no, Like alloy vs steel you mean? like that. No, it doesn't matter what so ever. The tire does all the work for you..........wheel doesn't matter

The lore is that you want a heavier wheel with a narrower tire. I would call tire rack for a package. I ran steel wheels with Blizzaks on a 325 sedan for years. Doesn't look great but had no trouble with snow... of course we don't get as much as you do. Other advantage of having another set of 'cheap' wheels is no cost to dismount/mount/balance twice a year and not worrying about damage from the new sand/'no-salt' stuff they throw down now.
