My 01 330ci with Xenons has a noticeable amount of haze on the inside of the clear exterior plastic cover for the housing. I'm guessing that at some point the clear plastic lens was removed for some reason.
I found this DIY article that (indirectly) details how to take the housings apart: http://m3.madrussian.net/diy_headlight_trim.shtml
But I'm a bit nervous about the whole process. Has anyone done this? If so, are there any tips you could give? How difficult was it? Has the condensation/haze come back?
I have a wonderful plastic polish (Plexus) that I'm going to use on it once I get the lens off the housing, but I'm just nervous about making it worse or somehow messing the whole housing up and costing myself a lot of money...
Anyone?

Many people have cleaned their lenses with plenty of success. Some people bake theirs, but there are plenty of other ways. I personally have never done this, so hopefully someone can chime in with some more help

You might wanna blow hot air into the housing first with a hairdryer from the back of the unit, to help remove some of the dampness in the housing. then leave a silica bag in their to absorb any remaining mositure.
I have the same problem in my P46's but I havent tried it myslef, got a few other pressing matters to deal with first.
As for what sort of cleaner to use on the inside of the lense, i would have thought something like methylated spirit would do the trick.

I do not think that would work. I'll take pics of the problem and post 'em up when I get a chance. But I'm pretty sure I have to tear into the housing to fix the problem.

Have done the black to silver headlight trim job. It's a simple job, but take your time and be careful. Take your time. That write-up was spot on with the 30-45 minute time frame they quote. Set aside an hour to do it and you'll be fine. If you're just trying to get the headlight to seal, keep in mind you may be simply removing the lens, repositioning the seal it sets onand then reinstalling the lens. (And crossing your fingers). If somebody else had removed the lens, it's very possible that they didn't get one or more of the clips sor the lens to seat properly - they are difficult.
Good luck!

I did this cleaning to a E39 528. It was simple and straightforward. I cleaned the inside of the lense with Windex! It worked great.
