Im happy how the intercooler held up even with back to back runs at times. The car is going back in the shop on friday to get the cats gutted and some other mods. Ill try to post more if get more footage.
I havent dynoed with the FMIC yet. I dont plan on dynoing until some custom mods are finished up.
McoupeBobby 08-23-2007, 04:14 AM wow his car is so slow that he needs to honk like that to get the jump hahaha. nice runs
porschefan1013 08-23-2007, 08:58 AM This is how race stories SHOULD be...you know, the poster ACTUALLY knows who he's racing, and the person he's racing ACTUALLY knows that he is, in fact, part of a race. Get it people? Why do I get the feeling you still don't...
Anyway, enough ranting. Excellent job man...that's one bad mama jama you got there. And thanks for finally posting a decent race story.
luckywales 08-23-2007, 09:08 AM Thanks Walked U for another entertaining episode!
I love the exhaust pipes, and smoked rear light holders on your bimmer. Where did you get them?

They look like OEM BMW Blacklines...
kaamacat 08-23-2007, 09:35 AM I'd like to see someting at a track, from a dead stop for both cars. (that eliminates either car from being at certain rpm/mph within an opt power area)
I've been in both cars (son has an 05') and sorry but the pull on the 335 is nothing like the GTO. (And I do like the 335 alot, so its not just because we own the other, and has nothing at all do with that). You're talking a sizable amount of HP and TQ differences in the cars. Were talking the GTO (LS2 05-06) with 400/400 and a 3.5 final drive ratio vs 300/300 with 3.08 final drive.
luckywales 08-23-2007, 10:12 AM They look like OEM BMW Blacklines...
OK - I did a search, and all I got were Forum hits...and I think you are right...thank you.
Now, where can I buy them? No valid hits came up.
ohnoes 08-23-2007, 10:12 AM Nice kill, dude!

Do you know what a Procede chip does to a 335?
Furthermore, FYI, a 335i is underrated from the factory.

Have you seen his mods?
People have dyno'd ~375 horse and I believe ~400lb/ft with just the Procede. And he's a damn good driver.
This was expected, not some freak anomoly.
Draven 08-23-2007, 10:18 AM Very nice.. A kill story that was done correctly with video and info.. Clean car too..
mpower001 08-23-2007, 11:01 AM Nice vid brother!!! Honking ability from the GTSlow is questionable. Looks like your car is really making good progress. Keep the vids coming.:buttrock
DLSJ5 08-23-2007, 11:26 AM Atta Boy!! Sher never fails to deliver, def one of the best enthusiasts around, good stuff Brotha!!!!
I think we need to shoot some daytime vids in the future. :D

you are thinking like both engines are N/A, we are talking turbos + mods here ;) a little tuning goes a long way, especially with the right gas
PedraM5 08-23-2007, 11:43 AM I'd like to add that the GTO in the video hasn't lost to another GTO before, even when they were modded. He also tells people (or so I've heard) that he can beat an SL55 any day of the week...
speedfreak81 08-23-2007, 11:48 AM Damnit dude! Can't see the vids on my POS comp here at work! I'm assuming you won?? Someone clue a brotha in. I'd LOVE to run you....too bad you're so far away!
GTO guy should have spent his money elsewhere for mods. Exhaust does basically nothing...stock flows pretty well and muff's are a straight through design from the factory. Aftermarket intakes are also pretty worthless on our cars unfortunately.:( I just picked up a $40 K&N drop in filter and have some plans to do some modifications to the factory air box.

Let me get a crack at GTO boy and we'll see what happens.:D SL55???? bwahahahhahahahahahahah riiiiiiiiiiight!!!:stickoutt

its a pontiac, what do you expect :rolleyes
kaamacat 08-23-2007, 12:51 PM Point taken. When I saw the original posting (like most), its showing car vs car........ and to me when I see these posts about comparisons, I'm looking really for stock vs stock. (The post only had 335 vs GTO).
Probably if it said "Modded 335...etc vs CarX then the results would look better. (Im still die-hard looking for stock vs stock, or close to, from a stop, at a strip..........rolling start @ 15mph is better to me if at all).
Actually even with this one...... A heads-up from stop, even with the mods on the 335 I'd be up for. (and because I still seeing the 335 with 308 final drive and with a 100hp boost, you're not gonna take a car with 3.5x finals)
If someone would like a stock vs stock comparison I'm all for a safe controlled trip to one of the local Atlanta area drag strips.
(2005 GTO, 100% stock, Automatic)
Armo95 08-23-2007, 12:53 PM (Im still die-hard looking for stock vs stock, or close to, from a stop, at a strip..........rolling start @ 15mph is better to me if at all).
A stock LS2 GTO would destroy a stock 335i. No question about it, no matter where it started.
kaamacat 08-23-2007, 12:57 PM I'd even have a go at the modded 335 in this thread. Worse case is I'd post back that it was a CarA vs CarB, at the strip, and if I loose I loose. (no biggie).
thrilos5 08-23-2007, 12:58 PM the 335 sedan is the ultimate sleeper!
nice kill and nice vids

I might be able to meet you up at commerse sometime and get it taped...
kaamacat 08-23-2007, 01:20 PM I do like the 335 alot, .......... I think when the 135 is out, its gonna be the best packages going and a fast seller......... (Issue with the GTO is, handling options are kinda limited because of the stupid wheel well area available. Even tire/wheel changes are very limited)
Chris.......sure...... possibly in Sept? I'd most likely have my son bring the GTO (since its his), and I'd take the Pantera just because I've not had it out in a while.........How long have you had your 335? (What about SilverDollar, Commerce is a mess when anything happens and takes forever to fix/clean-up. And honestly that track is a slick spin-fest)

Thanks Walked U for another entertaining episode!
I love the exhaust pipes, and smoked rear light holders on your bimmer. Where did you get them?
Thanks man. I havent did it in a while. The cars been in the shop doing the custom FMIC and stuff. Its going back on friday for primary cat removal and custom oil cooler upgrade.
Yup they are OEM blacklines.

He didnt want to go from a dig. He said he had no traction.
Do you know that turbo cars like longer gears?
Im not stock last time I dynoed was 340ish rwhp and 390 wtq. That was without the FMIC.
The custom intercooler I have is x2 as big in diameter all around.
I probably dyno the same whp as him except I have 50 wtq more.
From a dead stop driver is a huge part also.

You can buy them from your BMW dealership. I got them there for $350 out the door.
You can find them else where like tuner motor sports for $270.
Nice kill, dude!

Thanks a lot man. Still have a ways to go.
Nice vid brother!!! Honking ability from the GTSlow is questionable. Looks like your car is really making good progress. Keep the vids coming.:buttrock
Thanks a lot. My goal is 400 rwhp without version 2 procede.
DPs, custom CAI, nos selniod on the FMIC. I think Ill get damn close to it. Ill most likey dyno the car after DP's just too see the gains people are seeing 30 rwhp and 30 wtq just from it without tuning. (catless)

Ya that would be a good run.
Ya I won. Theres 3 races, well actually 4 still have to post the last one up.
The 4th race actually the first one was when I ran from a 140F temp. I didnt realize it until we ran I was only boosting at 1/2 PSI. (The 335i doesnt go into full boost until 180-200+ temps)
Ill upload it. Its just basicly he honks gets the jump by 75% of a car I real him in and we are basicly dead even till 155. I probably crept by 25% of a CL at the end.
He hasnt moded the car like crazy yet because he doesnt want to attract attention from the cops. Hes on his 2nd strike or something. I believe hes going to procharge it.
He has a 350z or somthing as a DD.

LS2 gto stock for stock in any rpm would take a 335i.
A LS1 is a differnet story.
A stock LS2 GTO would destroy a stock 335i. No question about it, no matter where it started.
+1

135 is supose to be 200 lbs lighter than the 335i, and has the n54 engine.
If you want a little car that moves I would get a 135i. But they look kinda ugly to me. Sorry for anyone that likes how it looks. I would like to see how much room there is in that car to move around things ect.
I had to relocate alot of things ad or cut things off to fit my FMIC and custom ducts.
Even with going 3 inch dual exhaust they had to fabricate stuff.
speedfreak81 08-23-2007, 02:15 PM its a pontiac, what do you expect :rolleyes
Wow.....what a narrow minded, ignorant statement.:rolleyes It's slow because it's a Pontiac.....:confused

Ohhhh, from the way everyone was talking I thought you beat him by like 2-3 cars or something like that. I'll be sure to check out the vids when I get home. I'm actually surprised you pulled him at speeds in excess of 120mph....I would have thought he would take over there.

Naw 1-1.5 CL's when the engine is fully warmed up.
The n54 engine is pretty good up top. Even tho the turbos are small it still seems to do very good at speed over 100 mph.
Vanos01 08-23-2007, 04:47 PM So what is that 3rd car in the 2nd video toward the end. Are they doing 140MPH too as you claim?
Arustik1 08-23-2007, 04:54 PM A stock LS2 GTO would destroy a stock 335i. No question about it, no matter where it started.

My friends red g35. He went ahead of us to get some footage but it didnt come out too good since he was on the right of us.
Not sure if you think im lieing about the speed or not.
If so no biggie. Cant please everyone.

When I've been a part it of first hand, no it's not. Driver skill does play into it somewhat. Dead even from 40-130 doesn't define "destroy" in my book.

VADER13 08-23-2007, 11:41 PM The 335 needs a LSD, I tried a dorifuto in on of those things and the car just jerked and bogged, it sucked..

September would be fine with me! My M3 will be down that month( turbo'ing her:evil2) so it shall be no problem. The 335 is not mine unfortunately:(, it is my stepmoms. She will have no problem lending it to me tho. We got it in late june and it is just now broken in and ready to go. I do not care what track it is, whatever you think would be best. I'll try and talk my dad into bringing out his 73 Torino out if you bring your Pantara, same motor!
Anyways, let me know whenever yal are ready.:)

Hahah ya thats my best friend in real life.
I told him i was going to race a LS2 that night. He wanted to see the videos afterwards.
Wasnt sure if he was going to post the kills.
He's heading to barona track on saturday to check his new trap speed with the cam. Hes hoping to trap 91-92 in the 1/8th since theres no good 1/4 mile tracks around here.
I wish I could go with him but im always out of town forwork on the weekends.
Plus my car is back in the shop getting some stuff done.
Steiner 08-24-2007, 01:25 AM Way to deliver the goods Walked U! Nice kill. Those LS2 Goats are no joke. My little brother has one and it pulls hard at triple digit speeds. Keep 'em coming. Your threads are always top shelf. :buttrock
A couple questions, an observation and a quick heads-up...
On the FMIC, excuse my ignorance but is the OEM intercooler top mounted, side mounted or just a smaller front mount than what you installed? Looks really clean by the way, in a stealth OEM sort of way. Needless to say, the whole "wolf in sheep's clothing" look is definitely the way you want to go in California these days on a modified vehicle. Even more so if you're planning to do anything between the cats and the turbos. Smokey seems to have it out for us unfortunately and the smog referee process is a living hell if you get caught with your hand in the cookie jar, so to speak. The observation I wanted to make is in regards to the exhaust tip clearance on the bumper. I'm not sure if there is an aesthetically pleasing aftermarket part that somebody makes to protect the bumper from the discoloration and deformity sometimes associated with close proximity heat, but it looks like the bumper may be susceptible to it if my eyes aren't deceiving me. It looks like the sides of the tips might be touching the bumper. Anyways the Evo guys use the CF one in the pic below but...meh...I dunno...it may be functional but it doesn't do anything for me. Just an idea.

The heads-up I wanted to give you was on the dyno numbers you'll see as a result of the FMIC. They will probably be exactly the same as with the old intercooler, unfortunately. The new setup certainly won't hurt your dyno numbers, but that big FMIC will pay it's biggest dividends out on the open road doing EXACTLY the type of races you posted at the beginning of this thread...one after another...high speed WOT pulls. Good ventilation, and a few well placed fans pumping out some serious CFM will do more to combat heat-soak on the dyno than anything else.
The 335 needs a LSD, I tried a dorifuto in on of those things and the car just jerked and bogged, it sucked..
I got back in my M3 and its a drift machine..
Anyway, seems you guys are going to have some fun straight line runs.Uh nice underhanded compliment dude. The 335i handles pretty well. It's not on par with an M3 in the twisties but it's definitely not a one dimensional, straight line cruiser...like an E55 AMG for example. :alright
Walked U 08-24-2007, 01:47 AM Way to deliver the goods Walked U!
Ya the LS2's are no joke.
Thanks a lot about telling me about the cut out protectors. Those dont actually look bad at all. Would you know where I could get those? And you think they would fit on my cutouts?
Ya I wasnt really expecting any gains from the FMIC. Spearco came out with one thats only 3 inch deeper in diameter on the core that made 15 rwhp on higher boost. (piggy back ecu)
Right now im just trying to customize the whole car in general to fit a custom turbo set up i wanna do. But until I do that I need to build the car up and I still need to find a tuner down near me to do the tunning. Still need to upgrade the oil cooler, which ill be doing after the DP's and custom intake.
After that i have someone to do my diamond forged pistons rods ect.
As for the specs on the FMIC, its a front mount stock. The diameters are 20 x 4.7 x 3.6.
My custom FMIC is 22x10x4, with 2, 2 foot silicon elbows and SS end tanks.
Stock has plastic end tanks and plastic hoses.
There had to be a lot of fabrication for the FMIC to fit. But all in all it helped alot. Ill try to keep you updated on to what other mods Ill be putting on the car as time passes by.
Ya the 335i handles pretty well for not having LSD. Theres already aftermarket LSD out for the 335i. Not as one sided as some people think.
Steiner 08-24-2007, 02:06 AM Thanks a lot about telling me about the cut out protectors. Those dont actually look bad at all. Would you know where I could get those? And you think they would fit on my cutouts?I'm pretty sure the Evo-specific CF exhaust cut-outs they sell on sites like lancershop.com, evomoto.com, and amsperformance.com would take a little customization to form a clean fit. I would shoot an email over to the guys over at carbonbydesign.com to see if they have any ideas. I think they've been known to do one-offs. Plus the 335i tuner scene is growing so they might even have something in the works already.

(piggy back ecu)Oh you'll definitely see gains even if the dyno doesn't happen to capture it. The best kind of power gains: real world gains. :)

Thanks a lot let me know what they say.
If anything I can have my fabricator do something with CF pieces like that.
Ya the upgrading the FMIC is a must on this car. Im guessing once I upgrade the oil cooler also I wont even see temp spikes anymore.
speedfreak81 08-24-2007, 08:24 AM If only all goat drivers were as good as you. :-)
practice practice practice my friend!;)
bijanmaleki 08-24-2007, 04:38 PM Hmmmm.... some are hehehehe
Jimmy540i.com 08-24-2007, 04:58 PM thanks but the video is too dark to see anything :cool
fillmore 08-24-2007, 10:13 PM its a pontiac, what do you expect
apparently you dont know better, but its not even a pontiac.
it appears the goat owner only needs about two hundred bucks for some squeeze.
McoupeBobby 08-24-2007, 10:42 PM having watched those videos again. it dosent look like he should be that much faster than me! when considering the gap between u and me sherwin. But ofcourse im still gona need more boltons. 50shot perhaps?:devillook
tdi logik 08-24-2007, 11:53 PM hey, walked you, what are you using to let the air out, bov or diverter valve? what does stock come with? i'm thinkin diverter valves... are yours upgraded? if not, you should look into like forge diverter vavles or any aftemarket d/v's they use on VAG 1.8t's........ ethier way, you have a serious machine!

DV's. Stock DV's hold 15+ psi with no signs of weakness.
Forged is under going making a aluminum / metal DV. Im not a fan of BOV's.

stifler 08-25-2007, 12:31 AM Wow.....what a narrow minded, ignorant statement.:rolleyes It's slow because it's a Pontiac.....:confused
shooting from the hip, I believe the 335 sedan has a 200lbs. ad over the goat.
but with the goat having the LS2, doesn't it respond ridiculously well to mods? wouldn't a cam alone level the playing field?

same here, i don't like bov's. so i take it your only pushing 15psi then? do you have one or two of em?
Tank0001 08-25-2007, 12:52 PM nice kill
Walked U 08-25-2007, 01:29 PM same here, i don't like bov's. so i take it your only pushing 15psi then? do you have one or two of em?
Theres 2 DV's.
Naw im not pushing 15 psi. Im at 13.7 right now.
Im on the lower boost setting map. I believe when the new version 2 map comes out it will peak at 12.x across the board.
Mine right now peaks at 13.7 and drops to 9/10.
The regular 1.47 map peaks at 14.7 and drops to 10 i believe

the ceiling on the ls2 is just plain stupid. stage one twin turbo kits that get close to 600 hp to the wheels, stage two kits that get 800 and customs that are into the thousands at the wheels. starting at about $5 grand.
PhantomGoat 08-25-2007, 10:18 PM great kill, I'd love to run into you sometime. I trap around 114+ :D
Ken23212 08-25-2007, 10:22 PM Chipped 335's are no joke and that just further proves it. Nice driving

spiderman97 08-26-2007, 01:26 AM i just ran with a gto tonite. the only way he was ahead was because he hit it before i did due to a little traffic but never pulled away as i was reeling him in. i mean really how do you pull along someone and give them the peace out i'll see u later sign anyway? yeah i couldn't let that go, and given enough room the way the race started i would have passed him. i dont know if it was a 300hp or a 400hp version. all i know is that he changed his exhaust, silver w/tint. if that was all he had i think i would have gotten him off the line or outta the tollbooth given opportunity

LS1 has single exhaust and the hood doesnt have those ram hood ducts.
LS2 has dual exhaust and the ram hood ducts, 06 has those funny Alteza looking lights.
Also LS1 has 5.7 liter badge and the LS2 has a 6.0 liter badge.

almost true.
the LS1 5.7 version still has dual exhaust, those are actually two seperate pipes, they are just routed to one side. I also own a 2004. which ran a best time of 13.38 bone stock. my 06 ran a 12.81 bone stock.

if it was ls1, you may have stayed even if he was racing. ls2, no......no reeling in. from what you described, though, there was traffic and a tollbooth involved. i doubt anything serious was going down.
McoupeBobby 08-27-2007, 12:56 AM almost true.

prety good times! stock tires also? cuz I know the gto has crap for tires as stock 235s or the optional 245s. for 400hp. thats no good
I believe sherwin ran something like a 12.5 before his fmic and exhaust... but dont quote me on that one. ill let him speak for himself
spiderman97 08-28-2007, 05:51 PM there was no tollbooth involved just a little traffic, maybe was an ls1 but i was definetly pulling a little more than he was. the race was initiated by him. the only distance he had on me was the time it took for me to get around the car in front of me at about 60-65 and try and match speed, after that i was reeling him in. i just didnt get to close or make an attempt t go around because of traffic and the fact that if i cant see in front of you i'm not gonna ride you to close. i'm also not trying to say that i was pulling hard on him, but hard enough to close the gap at a pretty good pace. didnt pay attention to the hood but it was dual exhaust. it was also 12am

On stock tires? Putting some VHT down? What were your 60fts and trap speeds? Those are exceptional times, among the best.

THE best actually.;) I believe he was BONE stock. Oh and most tracks put their own VHT down. :D
