can anyone with m5 tell me pros and cons of SMG and 6spd on m5's? and which one would you recommend?

I have 530 with SMG.
I think the pro's are you still get a manual tranny, with most of the weight advantages
No clutch pedal
You can be lazy and drive it in auto-like mode

cons:
Not as smooth as a true automatic
Some people don't like it
Niche item
I hear they discontinued the SMG

I'd just go with the 6MT...try out the SMG its not as enthusiastic, but is more practical.

I haven't gotten a chance to drive the 6 speed yet, but the SMG is great, as long as you shift for yourself (auto program sucks).

It's a better match to the S85 engine with its closer gear ratios, perfect blip-throttle downshifts, and much much faster speeds. If the M5 used a big V8 with loads of torque, I'd say the 6-speed would be a closer match.

which ever you prefer. If it were me i'd still go with a 6-speed

^^^ by the way i love the Noble. Got a ride in one around Road America and it was one hell of a ride. A lot of car for the $$
