My exhaust is absolutely worthless. I recently took it up to Midas to get them to work on it, but since some of the holes are before the cat, they wouldn't touch it. Well, I found a shop that will run a pipe (I'm guessing 2.25"?) from the exhaust manifold to the muffler (it's in good shape), getting rid of the cat. Is anyone else running w/o a cat? Did you notice an increase in power? Is it much louder? Thanks in advance!:)

I havent done this but from my knowledge they are probobly going to straight pipe your car im not sure about this but it should be louder and it will probobly have an increase in power.

It will be louder and there will be a significant power increase. Probably the best and easiest thing to do is call Bav Auto and get their Header kit.

Their Header comes with a bolt in straight pipe to bypass the cat and will bolt up to the stock exhaust system. It costs about $320 for the complete kit and takes about 2 hrs install. It comes with all the hardware necessary. Also to let you know Most of these engines will still pass emissions with out a cat as long as they are tuned correctly!

I seen that, my brother's 79 320 passes NY emissions with no problems, sometimes even better than the riced out Hondas

In mine I have a stainless steel cat and pipe to the muffler for the NY emissions test, they check for it......but is easily swapped for a straight pipe/resonator after it passes.... :-)

Yeah, there are no emissions laws in Athens, and a friend of mine has a shop that will do it for me. I might just go with the headers, and run a pipe back to the stock muffler. Thanks for the input, guys!!!

I'm running without a cat but i still have the stock manifold and i'm running 2 1/4 inch pipe straight back with a footlong glasspack sounds pretty wicked but once you run on the highway for more than an hour it gets alil annoying so i think im goin to switch over to a Flowmaster 40 series Original Flow for a different tone and quiet her down some...
