OT: I just need to reiterate for the 100th time the complete and utter disdain I have for the Boston Transportation Department. My day today began by walking to my car to find not one but two parking tickets. The meters in the back bay/south end turn on at 8am which is usually not a problem since I'm on the road by 7:55...This morning we ran a mere 15 minutes late and the freaggin meter maids tagged me at 8:09AM for an unpaid meter fine [$25] and expired inspection [$20]...9 Goddamn minutes and they were already at it :mad

I suppose I can't complain too much since technically the meter was unpaid and my inspection ran out july 31 so that's also my fault for not taking it in yet to get raped on a $40 non-emissions-testing-year inspection...but seriously, 9 minutes :censored:

Actually I had the Sentra done at a place that turned out to be far better than it looks from the outside. That CITGO by you is actually really good with it. I've seen a bunch of decent cars getting inspections done there.

At the last Colt State meet, I took two leftover bottles of soda.

The 2L bottle of Mug Root Beer sat in my trunk until yesterday. It was just rolling around my trunk and pissing me off making thump thump noises, so I offered it to my friend Jon as I was leaving his house. He didn't want to really drink it, so I said, dude, just get rid of it. So we decided to get rid of it by blowing it up.

He went out to the street in front of his house, and hucked it up in the air a few times. This had the effect of building GARGANTUAN pressure inside the bottle, but not rupturing it. Well, on the fourth try, the cap popped off and directed a jet of soda at the ground, propelling the bottle of soda like a GODDAM CRUISE missile DIRECTLY at his house!

The bottle made a perfect arc, then glanced off the hood of his Porsche 944, making a small dent, then lodged itself in a Yew tree. Throughout the entire trajectory I watched dumbfounded. We laughed for a solid minute, then went to the car to inspect the damage.

Fortunately it wasn't a big dent--it's something a decent PDR guy can remove. But still, it was NUTS. I'm still laughing remembering how awesome it was (except for hitting the car). The entire flight of the bottle I was pissed I didn't have my camera with me. :D

You need to switchup tires, for that price you could pickup a full set of winters. I find it bizarre that for my beefy 18s I pay $20 less a tire than the 17s in that size. Time to ditch the "all" seasons, I'm thinking they aren't "all" that great a value.

Yeah, they are expensive, but at the same time I will go out on a limb and say that they're worth the purchase price. The treadlife has been awesome, both dry/wet handling are phenomenal, and given that I daily drive the car year round they were killer in the snow/cold. Given that the one set of tires are a decent compromise to running summer and winter wheels the value isn't really all that bad.

I wouldn't mind switching all four tires to something different if i did that i would want to pick up summer compounds which and would then have to buy both winter wheels and tires which the 'ol wallet simply can't support. FML :(

This morning on the way to work I parked the car on one of my usual mission hill side streets - nice spot, in the shade and away from other cars - and I saw a kid standing on the side of the road talking on his cell phone but looking slightly distraught. His brand new '07 or '08 Civic is 'parked' with both drivers side wheels missing, a cinder block in the vicinity of the rear jack pad, and the front rotor pressed into the asphalt. :eek:

You might be able to just break the fan free with a 32mm wrench by hitting it clockwise when you are facing the engine bay.

I believe a 32mm wrench is around $22 at Sears.

I think you need either a 5mm or 6mm Allen bit or wrench as well for the fan clutch bolts.

If that doesn't work, you need the counter holder tool which is around $25 online, $45 at the stealer. Or you can borrow mine but I seriously don't feel like hoofing it to Warwick tonight. :(
