It's a public road, they can't close it. They have increased law enforcement out there to make it "safer." Instead they're just scaring off the tourism and harassing the locals.

ahh... it's still fun and fairly close to home =P

that or just driving north to shady valley to the twisties up there! (TN)

I just ran the Dragon 4 times yesterday and believe it or not 0 THP, and only 2 Blount County Sheriff Deputies on the whole road, but they were escorting the big trucks.

Not a big crowd but I got to play chase with a few sportbikes on one of the runs. I thinked they were a little surprised that a sedan was keeping up with them. They were good riders but definitely not going all out.
