gotta i clanging noise between 2 and 3 gears ordered a shift insulation kit but it seems the whole shifter needs to be raised any tips on how to do this .there are no bolts or anything to raise it. thanks rodger

The entire linkage could have come loose too. You should check out the shifter article in the faq section at 2002faq. It will tell you what to look at and what to replace. RealBMW 02 08-20-2007, 11:10 PM I had a similar problem a while back. For me it turned out to be one loose blind bolt that connected the shift linkage carrier to the back of the transmission. It could be the bushings as well, or a combination of a few things. Before you go ordering parts crawl under with a good light and tighten everything up really well. Then inspect for any bad bushing |
