Hi Everyone, I'm in the process of trying to decide what to do with my beloved 1973 2002. She was my first car, I was her second owner, but she has been off the road for the last 15 years. I'm trying to decide if it would be worth bringing her back to life. I don't want a show car, but I do want something to take to all of the club events and most importantly for track days.
Mechanically she will need a stout tune up, new hoses, brakes, suspension, flywheel, etc, but and this is a big but i think the engine and transmission are ok. Cosmetically she will need a new front clip/nose, there is no rust to speak of and the the interior is showing its age. What are your thoughts? Do you all have any recommendations for part suppliers?
As I begin this journey I will definitely be tapping your collective knowledge and insight.
Cheers,
Matt

Matt, There are a group of 2002 owners up in the Sheveport area - 'the Krewe of 2002 who always come to the Mid-America '02 Fest (every Spring at Eureka Springs, AR). Another good local source for you would be an independent BMW shop in Conway, Arkansas that specializes in 2002s. The owner has several & he could give you contact information on the 2002 owners group in Sheveport.

Unfortunately, or fortunately the car is in Oregon just outside of Portland. My stay in Louisiana is nearing its end, hence why I am anticipating being reunited with my 2002.

Matt,
There are plenty of 2002s in the Pacific Northwest. I'd contact Zenon Holtz (from Vancouver) and ask him for some contacts in the Portland area - zenon@zeebruck.com. Zenon has an awesome website (the zeebruck.com domain) with event pictures, including some 2002 NW events that drew more than 50 cars.

For 2002 nuts in the Portland area....
They have gatherings on a regular schedule and a Yahoo group to keep in touch with.
See http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/PNW2002/
Good luck.
(And - Having a '73 myself... I'd say fix it up! ... But I'm kind of biased.. :) )
