Not sure if the E55 is stock but it probably is...

I have driven both cars, there is no way its like that no way..the M5 seems to have a bit more of a pull when in the 3rd gear and up but it'snot even close to being like that, when the E55 gets going, it takes the F-Off..
The M5 feels a bit more crisp though the gears and the E55 feels a bit sluggish..it's a pretty even race.
Stock to stock..
Remember the E55 is S/C and with just a little ol chip it puts out close to 600hp..

Well...Thats the outcome in that video. Like I said I don't know if the E55 is stock.

TO make 600 the E55 needs a pully and Chip but it's a simple mod.
TO have that much of a lead the M5 would need some F/I and that's major work and $.

e55 are faster than that. the m5 needs serious mods to get it REAL Fast, e55 needs a chip to be VERY FAST.

why not come out and run a couple M5's soon? You and perhaps PSK145 (moderator on this board) can come out and run a pair of M5's in the OC area. Then you can find out for sure by lining up both cars? Couple E55's, couple of M5's....sounds pretty fun =)

Then again, .02 seconfs when traveling at 120 is quite a bit of distance. Here, with rush hour, I really do not have to worry about someone running by me at 120 MPH on a daily basis. Now when I had my Jeep SRT, it would take both of them stop light to stop light. That was WET or DRY>

it won't "blow" away by any means.....think about it, both make similar HP. But up top, with the NA V-10, especially above around 110 mph.....a stock M5 will pull on an E55.....will prob pass it by about 120/125 or so is my best guess

PS. there is a bunch of videos from comparison runs that the Dallas guys made on M5board.....3 diff M5s vs the same E55 in the vid in this thread. They have a stock M5 vs stock E55, check those two clips out since I can't link.......

I personally have raced a E60 M5 from a dig and it was no contest, he was a good ways behind and stayed there.

I don't know if he was at optimal setup (P500, M6..yadda yadda) but the beautiful thing about my E55 AMG is that is always ready to romp.

I have caught many 996TT and C5 Z06 owners sleeping at the line, and wondering why they can't catch up to me by 100.

The E60 M5 is a BEAST on the fwy, I wouldn't try against one if I was in a stock E55.

Speaking for all of them? I think its an awesome interior.

M5 interior, not so much.. the plush benz AMG seats are awesome, put 600hp (CHIP UDPK) under that and lookout..oh and not to mention thre airmatic suspension.
Benz has always pwned BMW in the Lux dept, imo BMW is more sporty and with that you lose comphy cush.
So, in regards to my opionons on sports cars..

When we tune the 55 cars, a straight ECU tune will yield betwwen 45-55hp, and adding the pulley we get 80+. they are great cars to tune.
