This is what I learned from a Dekalb County Cop last night. He is a stand up guy (been through SWAT training, sniper, etc.). HE explained the laws and the best way to handle getting pulled over if you have been drinking.

1. Refuse the "voluntary" road side sobriety test. You will be taken to jail. Your license will not be automatically suspended for 6 months either.

2. After booking you will be asked to take a test (field, blood or urine), take whatever test they say to take.

3. Don't worry about getting your own secondary test done because no judge will ever pay attention to it.

4. Go to court and fight fight fight fight

5. Don't try to beat the breath-a-lizer. Just do what they tell you to do.

Hope everyone finds this helpful. I am sure TPattison, Navy328 or No7fish will fill in any blanks I left.

Easiest way is not to DUI ;)

This is why I didn't go to the cookout y'day.... the DD was mad @ me so I opted to sit home and drink more instead :help

Well spoken. I normally don't do it either I think just about the only time I do is from Tim's house. You were missed, we had a much better cosmos to alpine ratio.

Anyone ever hear of putting gum in before a breathalizer? It works... my friend did it and blew a 0.00. Before any morons say no, I was there and watched him drink as much as anyone else then blow clean. How did that happen?

Also, this method SUCKS. It sends you straight to jail then to court to 'fight'.

Best way is to get a friend or taxi, worst way is this. Gum, cheating, talking, pleading, asking for anything, or even admitting to a DUI sounds better.

Cosmos - 1 (mine)
Alpine - 1 (Karl's)
Fern - 1 (Tony's)

1:1:1 - not too shabby.

A guy I went to hs with got a DUI and his attorney told him the same thing. Refuse the voluntary road side test. Because if you get arrested in a place like Dekalb or Gwinnett, the booking process takes forever, so it will give you a chance to sober up. It's better to get your licence suspended for 6 months than get a DUI.

Fixed the most egregious error on the page. Joey's a Kennesaw cop not DeKalb County. Other than that he also broke down the field sobriety test and explained what each procedure was for and what they look for during the test.

Afterward Joey, Rob and I took some of the dogs for a trip around the neighborhood. We scared a few crackheads, ran into a few APD guys who bluelighted us, and got back in around 0430 this morning. :buttrock

Good times, Good times.

I'm glad I don't drink. I do not have to worry about crap like that. But I'll pass the info on to my brother and co-worker, they are both pro-alcoholics.

Sorry to know that I still have to share the roads with people who are trying to beat a breathalizer. No offense to anyone, but there's just no excuse to get in a car and drive after you've been drinking. :(

Yes.

Hell, if Kenny can sleep in a freaking pickup truck until 6AM, there is NO excuse. :rofl

Nope, worked fine on everyone else.

What'd he say about the field sobriety test? That sounds like shit you could actualy use.

Gum has nothing to do with it. Some people can blow a 0.00 after drinking. I have done it twice. (In no way was I driving at this time)

Naw, I get my daughters Friday so I won't be able to make it out. Although tomorrow evening they are having a Camacho cigar event there to unveil the new Camacho Triple Maduro. I will be there for that!

Oh and I got the Alpine vs. cosmos reference. I guess only the ones who get Lee's sense of humor, or lack thereof, get his jokes. ;)
