The adrenaline is still pumping. I was going out to go get a few beers with my friend vic. We met up at my house after he got off of work, and we headed out.

I took the usual streets i take to get to US1 (miami). It was 12 midnight ish, and we were cruising down at 80mph in my accord V6 coupe 6 speed MT. We spotted a cop camping on the grass median, and were like holy shiznit, we're not gonna get booked.

My boy was navigating, i was the wheel man. I downshifted to 2nd gear, took 2 right turns, and flew through all the gears up to 4th(100mph range, i cant remember i was crapping my shorts). I took another right and just went flat out (this is my neighborhood so i knew all the dead ends, cul de sacs, stop signs, etc.)

We ran three 4 way stop signs with our lights off (one car honked at us, luckily i knew they were 4 way stops), took a chicane-like turn (left-right-left-right), and continued WOT. Cop was totally lost at this point, we looked back carefully and could not see any lights, or any car. We crossed a major road, and parked behind a mc donalds in a residential area. Chilled out for 20 minutes, walked to a convenience store, got some chips, and drove away like normal.

The next phase was driving like normal, while avoiding this area carefully. We drove speed limit to an on ramp. At the light to get on the ramp, a cop rolled next to us. He didnt turn on the sirens or anything, had no idea we had just gotten away. At this point we knew that they had no positive ID on the car, or my plate, or else they could have looked up the car and put all the cops on the lookout.

At the end of our roundabout, about an hour or so later, we were cruising down 107th avenue (if you live in miami you know). A 5 series BMW pulls up next to me, and the guy revved his engine and gave me a hard look. I didnt feel like racing him, i wanted to keep a low profile. So i rolled out on the light like normal, and got up to 45mph, relaxed. The guy put his window down, nodded, honked 3 times. I took the bait.

I pulled on him the entire race. I kept my RPM's between 5500 and 7000(redline) the whole race making sure i had full power to the wheels, and i beat him by about 4 car lengths since we raced for about 2 miles. I put on my blinkers, and waited him to pull up. Sore loser, he was pissed. He said he was an undercover cop, i didnt believe him, asked him for a badge and he couldnt cough up shit. He wanted me to pull over, i took off and made a right, when he saw that i didnt believe him he made a left. Losers got smoked by a stock honda and couldnt take the loss.

HMMM....street racing is illegal, so isn't every person who posts a kill story breaking the law, not getting caught and bragging about it? I fail to see the difference between pulling away from a cop and out navigating him, vs racing another guy on a public road, besides the fact that the latter case implies that the authorities haven't seen you yet. I'll admit that my instance is far dumber than racing outside of the presence of a cop, but i was lucky.

In a poorly lit residential area that is nearly a perfect grid, it isnt that damn hard to lose a car with your lights off when you have a solid lead of a couple of blocks. Especially when the other car weighs about 1000 pounds more than yours, is over 2 seconds slower 0-60, and was never able to get a solid identification of your car besides seeing your headlights blur by at 80mph while he was standing still with his car off.

Are you telling me that the cop had binoculars on while driving and was able to read my license plate from about 4 blocks away with both of our lights off? Dont think so... And yeah, they will quickly sign on to bimmerforums.com to find me, and somehow come up with my full name and address by reading my user name-quencho092.

What makes me mad are sore loser drivers who are pissed because their 40,000 BMW lost to a better driver in a car worth less than half the value of his car. I was actually surprised that i could pull on him because i wasnt sure what 5 series model it was; I caught a glance at the badge in the back as i pulled up to him at first but i have piss poor vision so i wasnt quite sure if it read 528i or not.

If i would have pulled over, him and the other guy in his car probably would have beat the crap out of me and my friend, taken our money, or damaged/stolen my car. Talk about being a good sport, most people that ive raced have been friendly and humble afterwards and were open to a conversation about their ride, or the race itself.

You don't even have a BMW.

Read the post before you critique it.

1. I was on my way to US1, taking residential streets to get there from my house. I was caught while i was GOING there, and i was doing 80 on a 2 lane residential road while the cop was stopped with his car off, with the front of his car facing me waiting on the grass median.

2. I dropped it down TO second gear while braking to SLOW DOWN...OBVIOUSLY not straight from 4th gear into 2nd without braking, rather, i heel toed and double clutched from 4th to 3rd, 3rd to 2nd, rotated my wheel to the right and accelerated after i completed the first right turn. My car would have fatally over-revved to 9000 rpms if i downshifted from 4th gear at 80mph......

3. You don't have to drive a BMW to be fast. Do some reading like i did when i decided to get my '04 accord v6. It's not a slow car, 240 hp stock with a 6 speed manual transmission. If i drive well, i easily pull 325's, 525's, 528's, 328's, automatic e46 330's,....any car faster than that and it would be driver vs. driver situation; that or i'd be completely out of their league (if they have mods, etc. It's what i could afford, and it's a fun car, regardless of its sluggish handling and poor launching characteristics, and im running crappy michelin OEM all season tires that slip and slide like there's no tomorrow.

Dude, you are such a fool, dangerous, and insane (not in the good way. 50mph into a 130 degree drift at the TRACK is insane.)

You're the type of kid that is why three of my friends are dead. You do know that while you may not get INTO accidents, you can still cause people to crash. Street racing is illegal, sure, and most of us do it, but we don't fucking go WOT through three goddamn stop signs. If I give it the beans, I make damned sure there's nobody else going to get hurt, and I still follow all the other traffic laws (signaling, blind spots, not tailgating, etc)

Seriously, dude. That was neither entertaining, informative, or SAFE.

You're obviously not old enough nor experienced enough to be a good driver. Aside from the fact you find it necessary to run from the law, you drive at night with your lights off. Yeah, I did that when I was 16 too and was very lucky to have not killed myself and/or somebody else.

When I see a cop when I'm speeding, I slow down. If he comes after me, I pull over and take my medicine like a man. You're a boy with poor judgement and nobody here is impressed. By the way, I've had plenty of faster cars than my BMW and if you were older and more experienced, you'd understand what it is about a more refined car. Your Honda is a great car but hardly as refined as a BMW......not that there is anything wrong with that. So grow up, go to a Honda forum and post your "kill story" or whatever you want to call it and give us all a break. Come back in 20 years when you can afford a BMW and want to act like a grown up.

damn bro, take it easy, alright.

The only reason i felt like i HAD to run was because ive had 2 tickets in the past 6 months and one more could throw me over and get my license suspended. I took my medicine 3 times before, and whenever ive seen a cop ive stopped. Even gotten pulled over for 'supposedly running a yield sign', when the cop just wanted an excuse to search my car with his flashlight from the outside and let me off with a verbal warning.

Trust me, i know my honda is NOWHERE near as refined as a BMW. The only thing it has is a bit more power than the lower end BMW models, all of which could take my car in turns. I've driven a porsche 911, and an E46 M3 (for a month) that ive taken to homestead speedway once before. I know what a refined car feels like.

I never said i was a 'badass' driver, i even mentioned in previous posts that i was lucky, and that doing that was stupid, im just relieved that i got away. But I will admit that i am a better driver and a better person than those two assholes who lost to me in the race then tried to jump me.

I joined this forum because im a huge fan of BMW cars, I enjoy driving them whenever i get the chance, and I enjoy learning about the cars by reading about other people's experiences with them. My story was relevant because of the fact that I pulled on a BMW 528i afterwards. That's it. I knew the risk of possibly getting into an accident, and the only reason i took it was because of the time of night, and the fact that it was relatively easy to get away. I was 20 times more likely to hit a house than a car. AND IM WRONG, I KNOW, JUST DROP IT ALREADY.

Just like all the other fantastic highway kill stories people post about them in their M5's or m3's cutting off buses doing 130 mph + and weaving through traffic. In my entire evasion, i only encountered ONE car that was stopped at a stop sign. And the chances of me ever doing something like this again are non existent, and I will be purchasing a quality radar to avoid anything like this again.

Dude, you "had" to run? There's no excuse. You shouldn't have been driving in a way that would make you feel like you "had" to run in the first place. Maybe the reason why you have had 2 tickets in the past 6 months is because you drive recklessly all the time.

This could have been, literally, a kill story. You could have hurt or killed someone. But it's somewhat good to know you know you were wrong about it. But for the sake of everyone, quit driving like an ass.

The thing is, if you get busted 3 times already, it's your damn fault for continuing to break the law. I have 16 points on my license (a donut in an empty cauldesac when I was 17 and that foot-tall brick wall in the middle of nowhere. go figure) and one successful license suspension appeal (for the points) but I just don't keep breaking the law...

and my other times getting 'busted' were- doing 45 in a 30, doing 58 in a 40, and making a left at an intersection in downtown miami where the no left turn sign was completely faded and a cop had a line of cars that he pulled over for the same offense. I was also following a friend of mine at the time who sped away and avoided getting booked and i pulled over and took my medicine.

Enough with the flaming. The fact that I felt like i was on the brink of death while i was running from the cops is enough for me to conclude that i am a dumbass by doing so. I have not exceeded speed limit by 1 mph since this has happened, and the whole fun behind driving fast in public roads has faded alot because im shaken about the whole thing. I'm lucky that I have never gotten into an accident after driving this recklessly for 3 years when most of my friends have had a few crashes already- i guess this was a big wake up call.

Are 528i's that slow? I expected more from that car.

In a poorly lit residential area... it isnt that damn hard to lose a car with your lights off.

The last thing you need right now is a radar detector. It's one thing to use such a device to drive 70 in a 55 on a traffic-free highway. It's another thing to blaze through stop signs in a residential neighborhood in the middle of the night with your lights off. You have no idea what it's like to get a phone call at 1am because the buddy you were just hanging out with was run over by someone driving like a complete fool.

quencho092

And I do know what it's like to get a phone call at 10pm because an asshole ran a red light and KILLED MY OLDER BROTHER while he was on his motorcycle. I had to watch him in a coma for 3 days until he was pronounced braindead. A buddy I just hanged out with every single day of my life since I was born.

And it pisses me off when people presume that I have never gone through anything in my life. I was a dumbass that night, i acted immature and was trying to evade the justice I deserved. IT WAS STUPID, and I thoroughly regret it, especially for the fact that my brother is probably fuming pissed looking down at me from wherever he may be.

quencho092
08-19-2007, 05:22 PM
It's a convertible model. I wet myself every time i drive it, basically.

My only gripe about it is that i prefer a standard shift over the smg, but the smg is handy when it comes to taking twisties and downshifting very quickly without dancing your right and left feet on the gas and clutch. I absolutely love driving the car with DSC off and powering through curves, the michelin pilot 255 wide tires blow me away. The car feels more RAW than the 911 with regard to handling and putting power to the floor (it was an automatic cabriolet non turbo) from what I could remember, simply more fun.

The launch control is a bit too involved IMO. The whole brake, hold shift knob forward, gas, release shift knob and brake thing is tedious, ive only done it RIGHT once or twice. Launching is crucial, I would think, because the peak power is soooo high up in the RPM that you lose time revving it up

Once I get a real job in 2 or 3 years when i finish school i want to snag an E46. Simply fell in love with that car. It is perfect.

Yes, they are pretty cool. When I bought my M3 I was looking for a MT but I saw this one with the smg in it. At first I though, it's an auto and I won't lik eit. But, after driving it for 5 mins, I really began to like it. IMO, I think the SMG is meant more for the track and not as concerned for the launches. I don't know, maybe I am wrong on that. Next car for me will be at least an '09 M3, that way if there are any glitches hopefully they will be worked out by then.

Yeah the guy in the 5'er was a tool for even trying to race you, let alone anyone. ( but don't get me wrong I do love the 5 series, my friend had one, that thing rode soo smooth on the roads. 70 MPH felt like 30... ) they aren't pushing on the sporty side of the BMW spectrum though.
I might get flamed for this, but I did something similar to you recently... not as intense or dangerous though. I passed a cop close to my house ( hiding in the train station parking lot ). Right after opening the car up a little from a stop sign. He definatly saw me before I saw him, and he definatly heard it. I wasn't going too fast, just had a quick launch up to 40. Speed limit is 35... It was late at night ( no houses too close )... but in my small town the cops really have nothing better to do. I saw his headlights turn on and I took the next left at the upcoming green light casually. He was in the far end of the parking lot so he had a bit of catching up to do. My street was coming up very shortly so I just ran it a little quicker than usual, prolly still in the 40's. When i pulled onto my street I turned off my lights, and let the car wind down slowly. A few houses down I pulled into my driveway and into my garage. (Full moon made it pretty easy to see). No sign of the cop yet. Only about 3 minutes later I'm stepping out of my house to take my roomates dog for a walk and I see a cop slowly creeping down my street, and he has his search lights on checking driveways! My garage door was open, but he didn't recognize the M3 from the back. My street is a dead end, and by the time i was returning to the house he was coming back down the street doing the same thing to the opposite side.
Even though I don't think what I did was very risky, doing something to avoid getting pulled over at any extent will make you look VERY suspiscious. The cops will go out of their way to find you at that point, and when and if they do find you. I don't forsee it being a very pleasent time.

sorry for the long drawn out post, its boring at work tonight.

Do you, the wheelman, and your boi, the navigator, boost cars for a living too?

Come back in 20 years when you can afford a BMW and want to act like a grown up.While I agreed certainly that the Honda isn't as refined as the BMW and that his actions were immature and poorly thought out...but what are you trying to say there? What does being able to afford a new BMW have to do with anything?

Congratulations for beating a 140RWHP, 3600lb sedan (528i).

How are you gonna compare a 2door 3.6L vtech honda pushin around 250 horsesBeat me to it. But it's a 3.0L V6 making 240BHP. ;)

Nonetheless, the V6 Accord's are peppy cars.

Chilled out for 20 minutes, walked to a convenience store, got some chips, and drove away like normal.

follow the advice of the other posters and kill youself seriously you shouldnt be allowed to drive.

I was going out to go get a few beers with my friend vic...

What are the odds that by 12 midnight,... the beers you were going to get were your first of the evening. On top of blowing through a residential area you blew threw stop signs there with no lights just to avoid blowing a breathalyzer. Then you say you're getting a radar detector so this doesn't happen again. You just have really poor judgement and I pray you don't get a wake up call at someone elses' expense. Please depart our forums.

so you were going 80 in a residential area? most likely a 35 mph zone?

what is it gonna take for you to slow down and stop being stupid? killing somebody?

the OP said he was going to get some beers, but was talking about "when he finishes college and gets a real job" and some other things about how young he was. so im guessing he isnt 21. he shouldnt have been drinking at all, but especially if thats how hes gonna drive sober.

3. You don't have to drive a BMW to be fast. Do some reading like i did when i decided to get my '04 accord v6.

If your an accord man why the hell would you be on a BMW forum and expect nothing less then people to critize and yell at you when your braggin about your accord and how bmws suck??

please explain, and take your accord and shove it up your A** or go to a honda forum.

Just my two sense

Dude, you "had" to run? There's no excuse. You shouldn't have been driving in a way that would make you feel like you "had" to run in the first place. Maybe the reason why you have had 2 tickets in the past 6 months is because you drive recklessly all the time.

This could have been, literally, a kill story. You could have hurt or killed someone. But it's somewhat good to know you know you were wrong about it. But for the sake of everyone, quit driving like an ass.

Agreed, im not that old and experianced for that matter. But know that your should speed responsibly, if thats even possible. But at all cost dont jeapordize other peoples life just your own when pushing your car to a buck ten.
Why would you speed threw more then one 4 way intersections? With your lights off espiecally when you bud navigating could easily be like theres no one back there?
