I got a ticket today, 40 in a 30, whoop de doo and the cop asked me where my front plate was. I said the bracket was on order and I just got the car.

Anyhoo, who here can advise me on where I can get the front plate bracket and how to go about installing it.

Thanks!!!
Justin

i can let you borrow my bracket so you could get your ticket dismissed but you'd have to drill holes for it go on delete strip.

Is there a specific kit that would allow me to mount it permanently without drilling holes. At this point....I just want to get the bracket on b/c I have a feeling the same cop will look for me another time.

This happened in Plano btw and he was driving the other direction so I have a feeling he is looking to fill his quota.

Thanks!!!

BTW, what is the normal prcedure for tickets out here.

The citation reads:

A. 40 in a 30

B. Missing front license plate.

plano cops love to do that, i had the same thing before = 70 in 60 w/no front LP. I put my LP on and they cleared it at no cost. You can get the strip from dealer for about $30 but not sure about bracket.

it's not really a bracket, just a different strip that goes in the bumper molding for the front center piece...

as for the ticket.. did you actually get a TICKET for both or are either/both warnings?

if you got a ticket for front plate, you can put it on, take a picture (and leave it on when you go up there of course) showing you fixed it and it will most likely be dismissed..

as for the speeding, if you haven't had a ticket in the last year, you can plead nolo contendre/no contest (i.e. not guilty and not not-guilty) and take defensive driving and pay a reduced fine... if you complete the defensive driving course ($40 i think?) within the tiem period, and not get any more tickets in 90 days (i think that's the time limit), the ticket will disappear and never go on your record, including insurance...

there is a bracket sir, unless you ghetto rigged yours:D Bracket not only lets you bolt the bottom portion of the LP, but it also protects LP from hitting the bumper.

i don't have a front plate...

but i do have a replica m3 bumper so that may be the difference... i believe my front strip actually has 2 holes in it, but now that you mention it i don't think i have holes behind it, but just the bumper itself...

The speeding was 10 over the limit and the Front Plate says -repairable which means I should be able to do as you described.

I dont have a TX license yet.....im still rocking the FL license and its gonna expire soon so I should switch soon.

The fine is liek $145!!!! Id rather pay less and take the Defensive driving, but I dont know how that works with me having a FL license.

Thanks for all the replies.....Im trying to find out if my buddy can send me the Front plate kit from his $tealership in FL. If not, BAVAUTO has it for $49.95 which seems excessive esp when I know I have the plate and bracket somewhere in storeage back in FL from my 99 328is. Oh well....probably tossed it.

Could someone elaborate on the front plate bracket for an M3? When I moved here from FL 2 years ago, it took 3 trips to the stealer to determine (at least at the time) that while there is a US front plate bracket for the E36, there is not a US front plate bracket for an E36 M3. They sold me a Euro bracket, which I returned, they ordered me another bracket, which I went back to pick up and it turned out to be a euro bracket as well.

I guess I could have modified it, but I am of the opinion that front plates are stoopid and look bad. I keep the front plate under the front seat and have run with it in the windshield before (only after a Hill Country tour with the S2K club where the locals around Lampasas called the cops on "all those foreign cars" tearing up the roads. Not sure if that is kosher, but I keep my fingers crossed.

Thanks for the info and good luck mt3ch with your ticket.

double tape FTW!

threw my front license plate on with double tape and cop bought it. had my ticket dismissed. this was with my Mtech bumper which i didnt want to drill holes in. with almost all oem bmw bumpers you can remove the strip and replace it like said in prior posts.
