The following is a petition to get a quarter mile drag racing track in the state of Massachusetts. With street racing on the rise, people are looking for a place to race their cars. Racing is not a fad. It is not a phase. People race for a living and it is here to stay. As the deaths from street racing continue to rise, people are looking for a safe place to race their cars. With tracks over an hour away from Boston, it is essential that we get a track in this state to assure the safety of everyone on the road. At all tracks there are hired paramedics and EMTs to make sure that everyone involved are as safe as possible. Please sign the following to show your support of a racing track in Massachusetts.
Please visit the link and sign the petition.

How about a race track...

No offense, but this isn't exactly realistic. With noise ordinances the closest place you could put it would be no closer than Epping.

That's true, I'd be down with a nice ME track, and it has more chance of one being built than one in MA.. ;)

Drag racing is for hillbillies. If someone were to build a ral track, that'd be pretty sweet though. Maybe we could get an expansion on an existing track. They could add a road course to Seekonk Speedway... :stickoutt

I wouldn't say its for hill billies. Its much cheaper to build and maintain a 93 EG hatchback for the 1/4 mile then it is a 95 m3 for the track. Its a much more practical sport for young people with less money...:dunno and hillbillies.

------

Growing up with tons of friends who race Japanese cars both 1/4 and regular track I can't say it would be a bad idea. However, I don't see it happening due to lack of location. Even if it did it happen it would end up being built in western mass leaving you with the choice of driving an 1 and a half to epping like all of my boys do and then going out to eat over hampton beach at night or driving out to springfield...

I'll take Epping and NHIS...This is coming from someone who grew up in Boston and witnesses the street races every Friday and Saturday night. People that street race most likely won't stop, even with a 1/4 track in their back yard...

Thats my .02

ha, dude...apples and oranges.

i do agree tho that it is way cheaper as far as participating (compared to a HPDE, not autox), and it does have a small hillbilly aspect, but that comes w/the territory w/some cars....COUGHmustangsCOUGH

it will in no way stop street racing, but hey some chumps/decision makers may believe that, good luck!

what I really want to know is what happend to THIS (http://www.palmermotorsportspark.com/) place, seemed like a sick idea...but haven't heard anything about it, the site used to look promising now its barren. heres more info on it:

i say we find out what the deal is w/that place:help

You are right.

I was just saying comparatively. They are two completely different sports but racing 1/4 is cheaper and you can do it with a much cheaper car. Few people drag race m3's and those that do(ICS, etc) spend 10's of thousands doing it.

Its cheaper for a 19 year old to build a drag car and go up to Epping for saturday night - $20

then go to NHIS for the weekend and need new tires/brakes after a couple trips - $$$

Cheaper Yes. More Fun? No way. Sure if you want to compete it costs more to race on the track than the strip. But you can easily have a lot of fun on the track with a shit car. Also you can have fun if you're the only one on the track. I think it would be really boring if you were the only one on the strip.

So screw just trying to get a strip built. Plus if you are this motivated to get an actual strip built you can easily spend the hour driving to NH.

Don't bank on that, so many delays. I hope it gets built, but just look at the Valley Motorsports and all their delays.
