View Full Version : Flooded Angel Eyes... Should They Be OK?

To cut a long story short my 5 series was water damaged in the Gloucester floods a couple of weeks ago. The water was over the bonnet! Anyway, the car was written off and I have since purchased a replacement (528i sport)

Now heres my question, my previous beemer was fitted with angel eyes, which were submerged in the water. Before my car was towed away I removed the headlights (they were fitted as optional extras) My 528i didnt come with angel eyes, so I was thinking I could have the garage fit the ones I removed from the other car.... question is, will the water have effected the lights or is it simply a matter of attaching them again and waiting for them to dry out?

Sorry to be so long winded....

I would make certain you rinse them out carefully with clean water and then let them dry in a place where no mold or anything else can get a start in them.

You might need to take them apart to make sure all the connections and such are good and that there is no hidden corrosion or dirt in them

Thanks for your reply... they have been 'drying out' for the past 2-3 weeks. I have found a local garage who will be testing and fitting them tomorrow... will post before and after photos :)

Its been x3 weeks now since I had the 'flooded' angel eyes installed in my replacement beemer and they have only just dried out! Maybe the 1000 mile drive (scotland and back) helped :)

Below are the links to the 'before' and 'after' pictures.. I haven't got enough posts to be allowed to post pics or urls hence the malformed urls :(
