Some #%$!#^@!! slashed my window yesterday. He didn't even get into the car, just a few slash marks and punctures right in the middle of the window, so it was not even an "I want to steal your stereo" thing, simply an "I am an a-hole" thing. I guess I'll be finding out how to install an emiata window now. Who else has had their top/window slashed? :mad:mad:mad

no use fretting about it, just be glad you aren't an ass like that.

installing the emiata isn't difficult.

Any chance it just cracked? Mine cracked when I put the top down in cold weather.

Granted, it's summer and you're in california. :)

mine got slashed too, 3 knife marks in diff spots. ordered the emiata window yesterday for $159 with shipping to Canada. Hopefully it comes soon before the weather gets shitty again. taped it with 3M clear tape for the time being. let you know how it goes.

I'd use the glass replacement part of my insurance policy. :)

It's a comprehensive claim, so it wouldn't impact you.

It's a comprehensive claim, so it wouldn't impact you.

Vandlism is covered under comprehensive also, which is what this truly was. Comprehensive is technically "no fault", so in theory, it shouldn't impact your rates. However, if abused, insurance companies will sometimes raise your deductible (happened to me many years back) or possibly refuse to offer you comprehensive coverage in the future. But a window getting slashed is DEFINITELY a completely appropriate comp claim.

Usually people carry low deductibles on comprehensive--in fact, there's no real reason to have anything except a zero to $100 comp deductible because it really doesn't affect your rates much at all.

Now, the insurance claim would cover the price of an OEM window as well as professional installation. That's what you're entitled to. However, you can take that settlement; and CHOOSE to buy an emiata window and install it yourself and pocket the difference for your trouble. There's nothing wrong with that.

Hope this helps and sorry about the a**hat that did this.

as far as vandalism goes, those vandals are idiots. why slash the window when you can slash the top?

Quick, go slash your top before the insurance adjuster gets there! Get a new one! (just kidding!)

I fuckin hate these fuckers, mine was slashed earlier this year. insurance took care of everything as I took the cash out option, ordered a new top from ebay and I'm back in action, top without headliner was about $400 with new tinted window, installation was about $250 and my insurance gave me a check for about $700, it was all good

If I was in my car during the slashing, I wonder if I can legally shoot them saying my life was being threatened........hmmm?
