I'm supposed to bring my car in tomorrow to have my springs looked at over at Foreign Motors West in Natick. For the hell of it tonight I gooogled "Foreign Motors West reviews" and wasnt pleased with what came up. Does anyone have any experiences with the, good or bad?

I got there for parts all the time. The parts guys are cool, they know me, I know them. It changed to herb chambers now so I dont know if the same people who used to be there are still there as far as techs go. The parts guys are still there. Judging by the parts guys it looks like your in good hands. I talked to the master tech there once, he is a bmw guru big time and seemed nice. Thats all I can tell you. I do pretty much all my work.

I had Inspection II done there. It wasn't an amazing experience, but I didn't have any problems and wouldn't have too much of a problem going back there if I had to go to a dealer. Otherwise I would go to some place cheaper and better (ie www.2002racing.com)

Isn't it Herb Chambers now?

I bought my BMW from a mechanic who works/worked there, but that was separate....I've heard horror stories about the body shop there, not sure about the rest of the service dept.

I go there to buy parts all the time. Friendly and good services from the parts dept all the time. My friend used FMW for services on the BMW and never had any complaints.

It was a good experience today, they lost my car for a bit, but other than that it was good.

here is the thing...
i feel like for the people who have been servicing their bmw for at least a year at FMW and have developed relationships with a particular service advisor or technician still have good experiences at the new, not improved, Herb Chambers. The problem is that it isn't employee-owned anymore, so the service, my last two visits has not been as wonderful...
my service advisor left when the ownership changed, but my favorite tech is still working there.

i would be weary, as someone new coming in to FMW if you want some great customer and technical service for you car.

i have heard good things about the dealership in Peabody

I can't speak about how it is since I went there last, but I bought my CPO 530i there and had them service it several times for the same issue it had upon delivery.

When I got it, it had a vibration at highways speeds. They took it in, left me a loaner. Try #1, the "rebalanced" the tires. Try #2, they "had the wheels straightened", and again rebalanced the tires. Try #3, they replaced front thrust arm bushings. Try #4 they tried to again balance the tires, now using a Hunter GSP9700 Road Force balance machine. It was determined that the machine was "out of calibration". Try #5 with the "newly-calibrated" GSP9700, they found the new Pirelli P6 Four Season tires were out-of-round.

They offered me a choice of replacing the tires with new P6's, or for $130 total to me, they would upgrade to Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. I did that and the problem was gone. Finally.

Of note was that after Try #3, I went to see if they would just take the car back and apply the trade-in value of my 2004 Pontiac GTO, that I'd given them just 3 weeks prior, to a 2004 530i that was quite a bit more. No, they would only allow me to trade the current 530i at it's now-$6,000 LESS value from what I paid. Under the threat of contacting the state consumer protection division, I got the problem fixed and have never been back.

I found out that the salesman who sold me the car, and ran interference with the service department, was "no longer working at Foreign Motors West", within weeks of my "final solution".

I also "googled" FMW, and got this: http://www.dealerrater.com/dealer/Foreign-Motors-West-BMW-review-77/

I had an incident with the cyclonic separator valve about 6 months later, and BMW Assistance had it brought to Wagner Motors. They also got me a loaner car. They fixed it quick, and cost me just the $50. It blew again less than 3 weeks later, Wagner covered the whole thing without the $50 deductible, and I had not bought the car there.

On the Wednesday before the 4th of July weekend, the "service engine soon" light lit on my way to work. Car seemed OK, if a little sluggish, but I thought it was the excessive heat & humidity. I called Wagner and told them that I needed that fixed ASAP, needed a new MA inspection sticker (can't get one with the SES light on), and needed an oil change; All before I leave Friday at 5:00 A.M. to travel from MA to NC.

I drove the car to Wagner after work that Wednesday, arriving at 5:45. On such short notice, they apologized for not having a loaner for me. My wife picked me up, and I got home at 6:20. At 7:15 P.M., Wagner called to tell me the car was all done. I couldn't get back there before their 8:00 P.M. close of the service department, so they took payment via phone. When I got there, the car was done, new inspection sticker, all paperwork inside, and washed!

They are now my one & only dealer to work with.
