Yonkers320is 03-06-2003, 10:23 PM My new rims:
ATS Complite 15X7 et35
I now the offset is too big for e21, but with 20mm H&R TrakPlus spacers, they will fir allright, according to the guy at the TireRack
awesome.....didn't know they came in black too
post some pics when u get 'em on.
MattE21 03-06-2003, 11:17 PM very nice... i am starting the search for rims as well
definately need to see pics of them..
how much were they?
Yonkers320is 03-07-2003, 12:31 AM 97 bucks with free shipping from Discount tire direct. www.tires.com
they are for honda and vw, the vw Golf MK I-III has the same center bore 57.1mm and bolt pattern as the e21 4x100mm
Yonkers320is 03-07-2003, 12:33 AM They come with a center cap too
G.J. Dixon 03-08-2003, 01:59 AM Nice wheels! Since 13's are becoming really hard to get I may have to get another set of 15's for the track. Those look really nice! I'm just not too sure of the spacers though.
BimmerDawg 03-08-2003, 10:05 AM Oooh...I love black wheels. How much do those weigh?
EdgePerformance 03-08-2003, 10:23 AM Those are very nice! I had Konig rims before on my Nissan Maxima and they were great just unfortunately too blasted heavy with the 225/45/17 and 245/45/17 staggered setup I ran. So I am looking as well down the road at the possibilty of larger rims I just love the 13" is rims though so I may just deal with them though although the 15" staggered Alpinas look somewaht good also, just not aggressive enough for me. I like the mesh design personally for the lil e21 :)
edge.......there are 15" staggered BBS (type RA) basketweaves......they look just like the stock basketweaves but come in 15x6 up front & 15x7 in back. the only problem is that they're just as or more rare than alpinas.

Those BBS wheels are the ones that I have for Street use.
I have a set of Exim Racing Wheels from West Germany for the Track, 13x6 et13 they weigh about 6 or 8 lbs I forget off hand which. These wheels are just like the stock basketwaves except the basketweave is jet coated in black for heat dissapation and the lip is polished
EdgePerformance 03-08-2003, 06:28 PM the BBS 15" staggered setup is cake to get hold of! I have no problem getting them just wanted some 13" stock IS basketweaves for now as I got a great deal on them! The BBS ones are going from anywhere around 250 for a set to 600+ for the set of 4 depends on where you get them! :D
Yonkers320is 03-08-2003, 08:12 PM These will be my street wheel, for the autocross I will still use the 13" with some Kumho tires, maybe 205-50-13 if its available
weight they are around 13lbs
G.J. Dixon 03-08-2003, 11:02 PM As far as I know, there isn't a 205/50 R13 tire available. Most use 205/60 R13. I believe there is 195/50 R13 and 215/50 R13 available. I wouldn't recommend using either of those sizes though. 195 isn't wide enough, and 215 may rub on suspension and steering parts. My 205/60 R13 Hoosier's rub on the rear strut and the rear sway bar under high g-force cornering.
yep, i just got 205/60/13 tires for my 320i.......go to tirerack.com and search for this size, u'll get like 10 results or something.......but the best bang for the buck, are either sumitomo htr 200's or dunlop gt qualifier (i have the sumitomo's and love 'em)
BimmerDawg 03-09-2003, 01:31 PM Oooh...just checked out Tirerack, and found Sumitomo HTR 200's. They seem to be sticky, and cheap at $41 a tire. Anyone else have these?
Yonkers320is 03-09-2003, 03:46 PM thanks BMw Club racer, so what would you recommend as a good tire on the 13" rims for autocrossing, I'm on a stock class. My 195-70-r13 roll a lot on their shoulders
G.J. Dixon 03-09-2003, 04:11 PM For starting out, I would honestly recommend any 205/60 R13 street tire for the first year of autocrossing. once you feel as though you have learned the limit of the car in all situations with the street tires, then you should move up to an R Compound tire. If you are looking for a Multi Purpose R Compound tire, in which you can drive to and from autocrosses and track events with, I would get the Kuhmo Victor Racer V700 for $100 each from the tire rack. Once you do at least 1 year on these tires and are comfortable with the performance level and are able to push the car to its limit in all situations and want to have more performance out of the tires, then you should get the Hoosier R3S03's which is what I use. They are about $150 each from the tire rack.
I do have to tell you though, that if you don't plan on setting your car up like mine, I would not recommend using the Hoosiers. You will wear them out really quickly. The Kuhmo's will last about 10k miles on the street. Hoosiers will only last about 5k miles, if they even make it that far, one pot hole and the Hoosiers will break. The Hoosier R3S03's are the lightest DOT Legal R Compound Tire and are very succeptable to damage.
Remember if you want to learn, you need to crawl before you can walk before you can run!
