My muffler rusted through and fell off. The damage was too extensive, I'm not going to even try and weld it back together. I'm looking to get a new muffler and I'm looking at getting a catback. I'd like a nice aftermarket one that will net me some power, but I'm not looking to spend a whole lot (~$300 or so) and while I want a nice purr to it, I don't want an obscenely loud on.

What manufacturer's would you guys recommend? Thanks.

Edit: This is for a 1987 BMW DOHC 325IS.

Not sure you'll find a very sturdy one for 300. 500 seems to be the going rate.

I like Stromung and Stebro. Nice rumble without being obnoxious. Supersprint is nice and only a little louder than stock.

Magnaflow is a cheap but good quality alternative - just out some nice tips and you're done www.magnaflow.com I think

ANSA is another cheappie but I hear they rust quickly if you drive in wet weather all the time which is likely not

Select E30 intake & exhaust, then the catback.

I bought one of these for my daily driver. Fits nice. Quiet until you get on the gas, then it just sings a little louder.

I loved my Borla. You can get one for around $600. It's somewhat quiet until you either step on the gas or let it get really hot and idle in front of your neighbors house. Oops!
