I recently nearly finished my 89 535 project. The car has 209,000 with the head replaced about 5k ago. Red exterior parchment interior from 94 530 installed less 2 driver side door panels. A little clunky in the rear - probably bushings. New tires, brakes, upper+lower control arms, paint. auto trans replaced with good used unit - milage unknown. Car runs and drives fine. everything works. I have a rolling parts car that can go with it. Atlanta area.
I love the car but made the mistake of driving a 540 and now power lust has found me. I have my eye on one but will consider offers of trade or trade plus cash for your E34 540i. I am fine with an automatic as the commute traffice here is terrible stop and go. I have installed front license plate cover and lower door weatherstrips(new) since photos wre taken.
Asking $4000

E34 540 or E39 540? I'm not interested in a trade; just thought I'd help you clarify.

No body interested? Do I want too much? Any comments?

What program are you using to view JPG picture files on your computer? Most have the ability to somehow resize the pics to a decent size for forum upload, say 800x600 or 640x480. Even the default photo viewer in MS Windows has a limited ability to do so- however there may be an update required to do so.
If this is not a possibility, you can create a Photobucket or similar free account and upload your pics. I recently did so for an $800 535 parts car in SW GA. My pics were also over 1 MB in native format, and the Photobucket SW resized them after they were uploaded. This is handy as you can create a new photo album for each vehicle or subject with as many pics as you need. The album can then be linked for a one click trip from your FS ad, or depending on the forum, you may be able to use the IMG tags and put a pic from your album directly into your ad.
I know pics can really make the difference for prospective buyers- look at all the interest in the 525 in Kansas City, he has some nice pics of his car. While I was shopping for an E34 for my kid, one of the first things I looked for was the color outside & inside. A good picture helps to weed out all those green and tan cars that proliferate the Internet for some reason.
As for your price, only the market will dictate if it is too high. If you don't see any interest or get any inquiries, then this may be the case. I know what it is like to spend a lot of time and $ on a car and only see a 50% (or less) return on just the cost of the parts you put into it. A moderator on another forum I belong to (speaking in reference to modified cars) said something like "just because it is worth $10,000 to you does not mean it is worth $5,000 to someone else".
Good luck with your sale.

TRADED ! I am now the proud owner of a 1994 540i ! sorry purists - - It is an automatic --this will be my daily driver in Atlanta traffic. I'm sure you will see my posts as I sort out thus project. One last comment - - The acceleration from the 535 to the 540 is AMAZING even in an automatic!
