Hey guys,
Are there different sizes of springs for my car? My vert seems much lower in the back than it should.

My vert seems much lower in the back than it should. bigbilly 08-12-2007, 01:51 AM Did you buy aftermarket or are you running with stock? The 'vert is heavier than the coupe and needs stiffer springs. If you went aftermarket and didn't get springs rated for the 'vert, you probably are sitting too low due to the extra weight. More info would help... TreibeFroh 08-12-2007, 02:10 AM Vert = 300lbs more than coupe. Hugo 08-12-2007, 09:28 AM Aftermarket springs are the same for every car, therefore you need thicker rear spring pads to compensate. Stock rear springs have a higher spring rate for 'verts. millertimebmw03 08-12-2007, 10:02 AM my stock shock were very old and I rolled and pulled my fenders thinking it was that. And then I changed my shocks and it raised the rear of the car, yours are 9 years old and XXXXXX amount of miles, might be worth getting some new shocks! Zach HKbimmer27 08-12-2007, 12:54 PM Very true, but how come the front does not do the same, I wish I had a picture, (yes, I have stock suspension) New shocks could have been the answer, but the shocks in the front and back were replaced 2 years ago. So I am ruling that out. Any other thoughts? Matt palomino 08-12-2007, 07:56 PM there are a few reasons for this... springs wear and become saggy after years of use shocks also get worn and saggy verts sit lower in the back than coupe to begin with HKbimmer27 08-14-2007, 12:18 AM Oh, I did not know that verts sat lower. I had a cool set of rims, they were um...shoot, they were 17's with correct offset, but I had to ask, becuase they rubbed in the back. Oh well, lower profile tire it is. S.A.B. 08-14-2007, 12:42 AM Aftermarket springs are the same for every car Not true. H&R calls for specific convertible springs that are sprung to compensate for the weight difference. |
