I currently have an automatic tranny now and I am wondering what obstacles I would face in putting a manual tranny in the car I would much rather have the standard tranny and I am just wondering how hard this would be and what the list of parts would be to make the switch. I would contact www.zionsvilleautosport.com and talk to Dwight. I just did this on my wife's 2000 323i and it turned out great. It is not a cheap endeavor, but if your auto is failing, the cost of doing the swap is not that different than replacing the auto.

Thanks Derek, about how much was it to do?

I think it was about $2500 shipped for the transmission and all of the parts to do the conversion and my shop charged me right at $1000 for labor and fluids to do it. But another shop ballparked me about $1600 to do the conversion so it depends.
