View Full Version : Wax hazing clear coats on newer BMW, MERC, ect...

is this true? the guy at the place i got my supplies from said that the newer cars like the e92's, e60's, ect have soft clear coats and if u apply wax even without a PC or rotary it will haze the clear? is this really true or is it just when u use a PC?

I worked on e92s all the time and it doesn't haze up. What he probably means is that the PC if used with a harsh pad will haze the paint because it's soft, but unlikely if you're just apply wax. If you're compounding, then yeah, it will probably Marr the paint.

Actually, I understand that the Jet Black color in particular is very susceptible to hazing. Perhaps that is what he might have been referring to.

Not sure why that color is reputed to be so soft when the clear on BMW's is generally considered to be rock hard.

I always thought that the clear on BMWs were very soft to help prevent rock chips.
