Well I recently had my 2pc BBS' refinished and on the pass front there is a light coating of rust all over the whole wheel because the pads wore out and metal dust was scattered all over the wheel. Then of course it rained so it got stuck on there and rusted. Whats the best way to remove this rust dust all over the wheel without harming the powdercoating and the polished lip? I have a mother ball, would i be able to buff it off or is there a safer way to do it like a clay bar or something? Thanks and let me know if there are any special products. Somone told me by spraying them down w/ wd40 would help to losen it but I think that would leave me w/ some pretty extensive cleaning afterwards. LMK

Anyone? I am changing the brakes now and would like to clean the wheel while it's off the car.

Def'n lube and clay and a starter
how long has the rust sat for
should come rite out..if not and the rust has not eatin into the surface try mothers ball with minimal compound and alot of polish ...go slow and try a test area for both tests.(clay and ball)
as you said it has eatin into the wheels ..if it has you have to treat it like all car rust as usual....go to the contanimated surface and take all it out then refinish or repaint ...you make be in for some expenses....good luck

Well I was able to remove the rust off the powdercoated centers. It just rubbed off w/ water. I am going to try my powerball on the lips, I was able to rub most of the rust off w/ a terry cloth and water tho. I'll also give the clay a shot.

Naval jelly will remove rust and leave your finish unharmed. Great stuff.
