I've been thinking about getting some touch up paint for a while and decided to look for the paint code today. I searched high and low everywhere it was supposed to be and had no luck. Then I came across a link to register with BMW and when I put my VIN# in it came back to tell me that my car is Aspen Silver Metallic!! Looks gray to me, but what the hell, I always wanted a silver car.

After a little more research, there was truly only one gray for my car that year and no less than three shades of silver!

What do you guys think? Car is in my sig.

I was going to say: "a color blind Jamaican...they do exist"

But then I was like nah..that's messed up....So I'll say this"

":alright I'm glad you found your cars official color! It's a very nice color indeed :)"

Aspen silver here as well!... As soon as I fix a busted fog light, was thinking about posting some pictures... It's funny that you thought it was gray, I always thought my (our) car was purple.

So the color code label on the passenger shock tower is missing?

This pic is of an e38...but the e39 color code label is (supposed to be) in the same place:

Same as mine also. This color has that "glow" when waxed and in the sun or under the street lights. I love it, but I'm partial.

Funny you should say that, because my sister was staring at my car one day and said how much she loved the purple-blue glow that it had! At the time I thought it did look a little blue-grayish.

This is what I think of when I talk about Silvier:

BMW has had a history of using a base color then impart an undertone to "mix" it up a bit.

For example:
Titanium Silver - has a white undertone
Arctic Silver - has a blue undertone
Aspen Silver - has a lavender undertone

That is the best explanation for the variations in BMW's silvers I've ever read.

Thanks!

Time to step up to some 17" or 18" rims to sweeten up that ride! :alright

Don't ya hate when people generalize your paint color???

I hate having to explain the difference between "gray" and Anthracite...

I noticed that last summer with my Titanium Silver 530. I had Klasse AIO with several layers of Klasse SG topped with a coat of S100 wax. In bright sunlight, the car glowed. It's really hard to describe.
