My ongoing (and first) project of slowly stripping my car while still adhering to prepared rules (some day I'll get there) I've come across a few items I am not sure how to remove or what to even call them... hence my unsuccessful searches for previous threads.

The steel black rods along the floor on both pass. and driver that hold the oem seat belt strap... single hex type bolt secures it to the lower door sill which is easy, but how do you remove this rod from its other attachment point? Seems like it is secured within the metal flooring for the rear seat bottom... not sure how to get to it.

Door handle mechanisms need to stay inside if there is an adjacent seat... but what about the little rods that go up and down to show if the door is locked/unlocked when the original door panels are in place?

Wiring... so much wiring... first I want to remove the unneeded wires... but fearful that I won't trace it back to the source correctly, or cut something critical. Do wiring diagrams exist... so I know what I can and can't remove? I've been meaning to pick up a Bentley manual, will that help? I also would like to rewrap/config the remaining wiring so its a bit neater.

Headliner... its still in... does it bend or something to get it out of the doors in one piece? Its in great shape, so I would like to sell it.

Removing steering wheel w/ air bag and pass air bag. Any tricks for proper removal?

I've already read the post on removing the "tar"... great post, so I feel good there.

Alternate door panels... any other suggestions besides using AL?

Thanks...

The bars wiggle out. (They are shaped like an "N")

Leave the lock bars.

Take out the seats to get the headline out. (it can be done with stock seats all the way back, but tough)

IIRC you can't cut wiring.

AL door panels or stock.

Airbag - disconnect the battery, 2 T30 or T25 screws on the back of the wheel and 16mm bolt holds the wheel on.

Def get the Bentley!!!!

--the rod just slides out of the back hole (think you have to just tip it up)

--wiring diagrams are in the Bentley

--the headliner may come out in one piece, but the market for them isn't worth the trouble. I did mine with a carpet knife while I was sitting the car getting it corner balanced.

--for the wheel, disconect the battery and let the car sit for 24 hours just to make sure there's no residual charge. Follow the bentley, it is very straight forward.

Thanks guys, I'm buying the Bentley this evening.

The bars did wiggle out... twist 1/4 turn then go upward... took a bit of pressure, but they did both come out - thanks for that tip.

I don't really want to cut any wires... just want to trace to the source for removal and want to make sure I don't unplug anything important... or mess up anything as electrical gremlins scare me.

I must say I enjoy working on the car!

Double check those Prepared rules before you start taking out any wiring.

See here for wiring in prepared...clarification #07-0017. It's pretty clear. Then cross reference the rules as to what components can be removed.

Definitely... I am only looking at the wires to the components that are allowed for removal.

Indeed... but I had legos growing up so I should be ok... might need to toss in a stay or several at a holiday inn express along the way.

Thanks... I like the response to the question... "no clarification needed"
