View Full Version : e46 325i - american v8 swap or other? crash4666 08-07-2007, 10:59 PM my motor is going out fast and i need ideas for swaps, v8 would be cool but worried about the fabrication work that might be necisary. Let me know what you think i should put in. Jonsku 08-08-2007, 07:13 AM It depends on how much you are willing to spend to the swap and how much you can do by yourself. Modern V8 or even V12 would be cool in E46  crash4666 08-08-2007, 10:50 AM was trying to go cheaper, so v12 is a no way. maybe a ls1 or cobra 4.6. i dunno. i've heard the bmw itb canadian motors are pretty cool. anybody know how hard those are to come by. and how much they cost. SpunkyE30nOk 08-08-2007, 05:26 PM the only v8 I know of to be put in the e46 was the Hartge H50...they used a regular 3 series coupe body but later on switch to the M3 body/chasis...probably b/c the M3 has a wider track than the stock coupes. I would find out what hartge did...oh but they didn't use a regular v8 they used the e39 M5 s62 crash4666 08-08-2007, 08:54 PM thanks, that's not a bad idea at all. an older bmw v8 would be sweet. stephanb 08-09-2007, 05:57 AM the issue is using an older bmw v8 meaning the e39 m5 one will totally raise the cost. i assume an ls1 swap might be possible though ... vibes 08-09-2007, 06:17 AM Why not try to find an e46 m3 engine? I mean, its expensive... but WORTH IT! ;) |
