i recently changed the oil on my 04 530i, but i dont know how to reset the miles on it. now the car keeps telling me that i need to change the oil when it was just done. any help?

I have the same problem on my 2004 530i also. Does anyone know how to reset the miles? Any help would be appreciated.

You need a special tool to reset the ECU. You can get them at BV auto or go to a dealer and they'll reset the thing for you.

There is another way of doing a reset without that tool. I had a buddy use a wire, he had one pin from where you would connect this reset tool wired and then I believe he grounded the other end of the wire. Turned the car back on and the oil change light was reset. Sorry for not having more specific details, it was dark at night and he did it in a blink of an eye. I'm sure someone out here will have better details to perform this light reset without using the reset tool. The reset tool is fairly expensive.

as far a the service light. Just search you dont need a tool.
