Well, I didn't really have a way of searching without turning up a trillion unrelated threads, so just thought I'd ask here. Looking at a vert, but the top closes quicker than the cover for it opens. Will this develop into a bigger problem or will it be ok for a while? What does it sound like the problem might be? Big or small fix?
Thanks guys.

I don't really get what your saying. Assuming this is a fully automatic top the motion is as follows; The front portion at the windshield will go up then stop. Then the rear window will fold forward then stop. Then the tonneau(cover) will open then stop. Then the top folds into the boot then stops. Then the tonneau closes, end motion. What I'm trying to get at here with my repetitive speach is that there should never be two motions happening at the same time. If there is, a switch must be bad somewhere.

I think he means the top starts moving at a said pace, and then when the lid starts to open it opens very slowly, and then once open, the top begins moving again at the expected pace.
Sounds like you either need new shocks for the lid (good luck on that) or possibly a new motor (probably less painful install but more expensive to buy).

It's OK, I'm not quite sure I know what I'm saying either..lol.
I was trying to describe as good as I could what the owner told me. I am going to look at the car today, so I'll try to figure out exactly what he means. When you mentioned there shouldn't be 2 motions occurring at the same, that made me wonder if this is the specific problem:
When the top stops to let the tonneau cover open, I think the owner must have been saying it doesn't actually end up stopping all the way and will hit the cover if the cover isn't helped open. Or perhaps the cover isn't able to open on its own very well?
I was hoping it would be a common problem that many people would have info on, but guess not. Or else I suck at explaining things (quite possible) lol.
I'll post back this afternoon or evening with a description of it from my experience.

if it is the top hitting the tonneau as you stated above, thats a common problem. Usually it's just the tension strap not holding the bow far back enough to clear the tonneau

When that happens to me I just stop pressing the button as soon as the rear bow is as high as it will go, then reach back and pull it to vertical. Smooth sailing from there.
I'll deal with the straps when my "list" gets shorter.

Aman & Treibe, that would be exactly what it is.
Basically, when the top is going back, I just have to pull the bottom of the top up a bit about midway through, then the tonneau comes up. Guess it isn't a big deal then. Thanks.
