Hello all,

Brief intro: I live in Seoul, Korea... and I've been looking for a convertible for the past few weeks... I use to own a Honda S2000... but it was a bit of a handfull to drive in a congested city.. I sold it about a month ago looking for either a 4 seat convertible or possibly another roadster..

Car 1.
1996 328 convertible.. this looked great online.. but it use to be red and had the worst paint job EVAR!!! the new white paint was chipping off and you could tell they didn't even prime the the paint...

http://www.encar.com/proc2/2510.jsp?carid=3265277&kf=for

The rear window seals were coming off.. and it drove very poorly..
Price: 14 Million won.. (US$14,500)

Car 2.
1996 328 convertible.. looked great online.. and looked great in person.. the seats were very worn... but drove great...

Car use to belong to a celebrity and was well taken care of.. brought the price down to 14million from 16.5... it has a hardtop...

For some reason though.. I'm wasn't as thrilled by the 328 as I thought I would be... it felt very heavy... Now i'm thinking of looking for a Z3 1.9 or a Saab 9-3 convertible...

I'm not a big fan of the Saab... and the Z3 seems like it would be too small... I would use the car primarily for weekend trips with my wife and small dog... and I would drive it to commute maybe 2~3 times a week.. which is only a 10 min drive...

I'm really torn here cause I like the Z3.. but I think the 328 would be more comfy... uhmmm what to do.... any ideas?

That white one is LOLLLLLL

Too much wood trim, ugly ass radio, no rear headrests, terrible paint job, ugly corners, fake M3 badge and also the rear window is falling out. STEER CLEAR.

The silver one looks nice but DUDE $14,500 for a '96 vert? Is that seriously the going rate where you live? Here in the US that's a MAJOR rip off. E36 verts go for almost one third that here.

Every foreign car in Korea goes for twice as much as what you would expect in the US... My Honda S2000 cost me US$80K.... gah~

That white one was just absolutely terrible... wouldn't take it for any price... I like the rims though..

Gonna take a look at a Z3 and a Saab 9-3 this weekend and I'll make a decision...

Why not look at a 2.8 Z3? You get power plus the smaller roadster body. Personally, I love my e36 vert. It does feel heavy so as to ride well, but it also handles quite well. Honestly, any car is going to feel heavy coming from an s2000 though... when you look at the 1.9 Z3, remember the car has very little power until you break about 4k rpms. I'd also advise fogging the intake box or going with a cold air intake on the 1.9. It makes a *huge* difference past 6k rpms. Also try to get one with a 5 speed. The auto kills these cars and it *really* hurts the 4 cylinder models. The again, I have an auto myself :help

Power is not my #1 priority at the moment.. I just want a nice weekend toy for my wife and I to drive around in... so a 1.9 I think would really fit the bill... not sure if i want a 4 seater though... If i get a roadster... it would definetly be manual trans... 4 seater would be auto.. thanks for the input

Kam ham sam ni da! (Ok that was terrible)

Wow, going from an S to just about anything is going to be night and day. While the 3 series is heavier, I felt it 'held' the road. Peppy enough to be enjoyable, but I really liked how it rode smooth and not in a bloated way.

Definetly felt like it handled well.. not like a Sebring or something.. which handles like a boat.. gonna try out the Saab and see how that feels, but I have a feeling I won't like it too much...

S2000 is a great machine... I had the AP1 9000rpm version... it was a great car to drive... but I just want something to toot around town in... I'm planning on getting a motorcycle... so that's why speed is not really what i'm looking for.. just some style and fun for my wife and little dog on our weekend trips ;)
