So my dog ears/bat wings are loose... and when the windows are down, they obviously flap alot which is really annoying.

Is there a way to use tape or string to fix this (im planning to repair this officially when i have more time) and still lets the top go down without problems??

Restringing is easy. I used a black shoelace. Took me five minutes. There are two threads in the 101 sticky with pics and diagrams.

Are both necessary? I get confused when trying to figure out what I need because pelicanparts.com (http://www.pelicanparts.com/BMW/catalog/shopcart/BE36/POR_BE36_BDYcon_pg1.htm) has like 5 different repair kits and most seem to share parts.
