Anyone try putting this engine in a e36? Its an inline engine so there shouldnt be problems fitting it. The intake is pretty tall and might not clear the hood though

View Full Version : GM 4.2 inline 6 in e36? Zdoctor 08-06-2007, 03:46 PM Anyone try putting this engine in a e36? Its an inline engine so there shouldnt be problems fitting it. The 4.2 six cyl is an advanced, all alum, sweet package. Tip it over 30 degs to the right .... It might be a nice swap engine, but the oil pan would be trouble ... while the 4.2 is probably lighter than a BMW six, it is just as tall and would have to be tipped over to the right in an E36. Not a show stopper, but considerable extra work to do for the swap. Go for it Garret & Steve doing E30-LS1 aka 357is ....... just dropped off the driveshaft at Drivelines NW to get it fixed up for our swap .......... |
