View Full Version : Westchester BMW sucks

Every time I call for a part they give me a hard time. Is it because I have a 92 instead of a brand new BMW?? First of all I work part time for a auto repair shop. I help out, I work on my car, I run errands etc etc. Not a full blown mechanic but I work there. Today I call for a part and the guy is nice but when I say I have a part number and stuff I could tell his attitude changes toward me. Then he says I have to go pay it upfront so they can order then and I replay by telling him I'm calling from the shop and in the past we have gotten the parts delivered.

he asks for the name and number but then realizes I called from a different number and gives me trouble about that. I then tell him it's my cell phone. Now he tells me If I'm a customer I can't order parts. I remind him I work there. Then he gets angry and says. Listen any guy from the street can't just call and order parts. I say, ok sir, I'm going to have the owner call you right now to order the part. he hangs up and I pass the phone to the owner, he calls and now I have the part coming Wednesday.

Is this normal behavior? I've been there in person and they also give me shit even though I'm wearing the shops uniform with the logo on my shirt.

Is this a stealership that doesn't sell parts to the public? If so, this is the first time I'm hearing this.

They sell parts to the public but he would not believe that i worked for the shop only because i didn't call from the shops land line. For that reason he wouldn't order the part for me.

I think the issue is that you wanted the part delivered. I know the independent shops have deals with the dealership that they can call and order parts and get them delivered. The dealership parts guys know who these people are.

Anyone could pick up the phone and say "I'm calling from shop X, and need this part.... please deliver" People could do that as a cruel joke or to disrupt their business -- sort of like ordering a pizza under a false name/address.

Sounds to me that they just needed confirmation that you were in fact from that shop.

Yep. And you see they have signs everywhere stating, basically, "We need you to rate us a 5/5 when BMW NA calls and if there is ANY REASON why you do not rate us a 5, please call and let us know immediately! We want to be the best for you!"

I guess Westchester BMW didn't get the memo.....

i need to get a key cut...is it a standard price regardless of stealership?

i've only dealt with westchester bmw once in the past. typical non caring retail worker attitude but nothing out of ordinary.

you can't go wrong with greenwich bmw. They're one of few bmw dealers who know there stuff. Circle bmw in eatontown, new jersey are good too. good prices for parts.
