thanks! i took the moldings off and took them to a body shop in MD when i lived there for school. the guy only charged me the cost of paint. so it cost me about $75 plus a few new clips at the bmw dealer.

and thanks for the chop. anyway to make them look more black. i know you tried to match the sunlight angle but i really want to get an idea of black.

they did not have to do any prep work on the mouldings? just painted straight to the plastic?

On my old m I did it myself. Sanded them primed them and painted them. Cost me about $30 and looked great.

yeah, i was thinking of doing it but I started a thread about it in the e36 section and some of them said I should use bondo sand that then primer then base then clear coat. I was lookin online for paint in spray cans and saw that it would be around $100 for primer/base/clear paint cans. Do you have an estimate on how much paint you used?

I used this site https://www.paintscratch.com
Looks like they raised their prices since I did it a couple years ago :confused
Anyways..paint cans are 24.95 and you would need 2, clearcoat is 12.25 and primer 11.50 and you would only need 1 of each of those. So I guess it would be pretty close to 100.
