Can anyone give me an idea as to what to look for in upgrades for the M70 motor? I was just wondering due to the conversion I am doing, what I should look for to replace/ upgrade on the motor.

JimmyBones 08-05-2007, 01:35 PM Look for parts for an m20 because they are exactly the same but you have two of them. For example the performance headers that fit an m20 fit a m70 just you need to specially make the other side. JimmyBones 08-05-2007, 11:39 PM Okay bad choice of words but my point still stands. Acorn 08-12-2007, 07:05 PM Thanks, but what would you recommend I look for? JimmyBones 08-13-2007, 10:57 AM How far do you want to take apart the motor? Because I have a link for some very good cams (http://www.vacmotorsports.com/cgi-bin/special_view.pl?man=Schrick) and a stroker kit to make the V12 5 Liter to a 5.4 Liter. Then if you want some forced induction Vortech makes a great supercharger kit which you would need two of; one for each side. Acorn 08-16-2007, 12:24 AM I don't think I'll tear into the motor, and when it says "Call" for pricing, it kind of worries me. I think I'd like two Turbos, one for each side. What is the preferred brand for turbos, and what can I get for not so much money? JimmyBones 08-16-2007, 10:57 AM Yeah, "call for pricing" scared me too at first and even worse when I found out that they want $1,400 for a set of two. But I was talking about the M20 cams because they fit and have the right firing order, plus they are only $420 per and have a better angle for more performance. I don't know about any turbos for these cars but I have heard, from my BMW mechanic, that these motors really suffocate at the top end not bottom. So I would go with two Vortech superchargers, one for each side. Acorn 08-16-2007, 12:35 PM If they suffocate at the top end rather than bottom, wouldn't I want to put turbos in since they add air at the top? That confused me. Which Camshaft would I want? Would the 304 break anything? By Race, does it mean it cannot work properly in daily traffic, or just mean suck down gas? Or should I just go with the 284? I really have no idea. This will be my daily driver, so I don't need it to blow up on me, though gas guzzling does not bother me a bit. (also, I still want the turbos because I want to hear them) tar.bz 08-16-2007, 12:49 PM twin turbo would be awesome. Heres some linkage so you can start looking into it: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=772754&highlight=750il+turbo http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/archive/index.php/t-18599.html http://youtube.com/watch?v=J_6OedKNUX8 http://youtube.com/watch?v=cc80tfQvvSc&mode=related&search= http://youtube.com/watch?v=H4gWUlXTewc&mode=related&search= http://youtube.com/watch?v=gJg-i3leR4g I thought I would find more links :( |
