My badge was misplaced when I bought my car almost a year ago, and it's always slightly annoyed me, so today I did something about it. I debadged, but I'm going to re-stick the badge in the proper place this weekend when I do a fairly thorough detail. I'm wondering at what point should during the detail should I re-apply my badge? I'm thinking it's after the clay bar and before waxing, so the routine would go like this:

Wash > Dry > Clay > REBADGE > Wax

This is the correct sequence, yes?

*I thought I posted this earlier today but I can't find it so if this is a duplicate post I apologize

i would rebadge it after the wax. It's up to you...either way is fine.

I would before the wax.

I would before the wax.

Clean the surface with rubbing alcohol (glue will not bond to wax) attach the badge, apply wax

Clean the surface with rubbing alcohol after the clay? Then apply and finally wax?

wax the car, make a template of your badge out of masking tape, apply the template where your badge will mount, clean the exposed templated area with alcohol, apply badge, remove masking tape.

NOT so obvious, bro, because now there are 2 saying to apply rubbing alcohol after the wax, and 2 others saying to do if post-clay, pre-wax.

What would be the point in waxing, then removing the wax with alcohol? Would that allow me to wax the paint very close to the badge without having to worry about getting wax residue in the nooks and crannies?

sure.... It obviously doesnt matter which way you do it just as long as theres no wax where you're sticking the badge. Make sure you use a soft towl with the rubbing alch

wouldn't you want the badge to stick to the paint's surface, not a coat of wax? just my .02 .... use some paint prep (or the rubbing alcohol i guess)
along with claying... you want it just bare paint!

I do. That's why I was gonna put it on after clay but before wax. I just didn't see the point of waxing THEN taking it off with rubbing alcohol like some people were saying. But I think I see the point now; I'm done washing, claying and waxing and it took a little effort to go around things like the hood-mounted windshield washers and the sidemarkers. Not that it was hard, but it was easier to go over the spot where the badge will be, as opposed to going around the badge had I applied it before the wax.

And now, I'm off to the store for some rubbing alcohol. :D

Thanks for the suggestions, everybody.
